    More from Ormand beach racing

1908 is the year and Fiat is the make of the car that is going so fast it is slightly distorted in this photo.

Another photo from 1905. This time we see a Mercedes racer being towed down the beach by another car (which also looks like a racer) before making a run.

Driver Ed Thomas is in his Mercedes preparing for a run in 1906. Note the size of the chain on the sprocket and what it could potentially do if it ever came loose and they sometimes did.

Here’s a Fiat charging along the beach in the 1905 time frame. Yes there are two heads in that car. The driver and the riding mechanic.

Here’s a row of cars lined up to watch the race cars run in 1908. Pretty awesome to see all of the cars with their tops dropped in the nice Florida weather.

Here’s James Breese circa 1904 sitting in the luxurious confines of his Mercedes car on the beach.

  9. Moriarity! Great run of pictures! The cars are great but the people in the pictures put a story behind the car. These truly show "Vintage shots from days gone by".

    I believe it's Doc Shanebrook's midget from around 1950.

    On the beautiful Oregon coast.
There is a really cool antiques/collectibles store in Wheeler, been in it a dozen times over the years.

    Triplett 2-26-33 Legion Ascot.JPG

    Rootie.
I have seen the shot of Ernie Triplett with the miniature in his hand before. Info from Revslib indicates it is 2-26-33. I think Legion Ascot, sure looks like Mays in the leather jacket walking behind. What do you think?

I lived on Hastings Street, on Scarborough Beach, West Australia, it was just one side street up from the beach right behind the Indi. That was part of 2009 and 2010, miss it. Check out the logs these guys rode.
