    52-3 Ford with a roll bar..now that's not something you see everyday...I think she will need to move up the seat a little to reach the clutch.,but I doubt anyone noticed.

    I had a customer that would pay me with a $2 bill every month(the rate was $1.50 per mo.).
    I found out later, that was a "calling card" back then for certain kind of people. Learned later he was one!

    Finally a couple family photos. 1957; my parents' apartment in Evanston just after the neighbors got a new Fairlane 500:

    And this was a mystery for a long time. My mother in the late 1940s, when she was in high school, with her friend's car:

    When I was little, I asked her what make it was; she thought it was a LaSalle. Looking at it today for the first time in years, I knew it wasn't, but what was it? I knew it didn't match any GM, Ford, Mopar, or Studebaker, so by process of elimination I tried Nash - and whaddya know:

    1938 Nash Lafayette. Turns out Mom was half right - it was named after a famous Frenchman whose name began with "La"... :D
