  2. This one is New Zealand. Don't know exactly where or when but probably 1970s or maybe later. Mid 1960s Holden wagon back there plus maybe something from the '80s?

  3. The reason why the name Oakland was used - the name of the county in which Pontiac city is situated - was the existence of the Pontiac Spring and Wagon Works. As noted that disappeared quite early. There was also the Pontiac Buggy Co. which had a connection to the Oakland car. The new Pontiac in 1926 shared nothing in common with the Oakland. When it was designed it was going to be an upmarket Chev but Oakland were given it instead. The first two years' Pontiacs share a lot in common with the contemporary Chev - front axle, gearbox, rear end etc - just a longer wheelbase and a unique engine. From 1928 they used a different rear end.

Houston, Deer Park, and Pearland, where you see fields add buildings, lots of them.

This building still exists and is a mall that has several high end stores, it is a Dillard's now and across the street to the right as you face the picture is The Galleria mall (out of scope).

Put a ten in front of that number (literally) and have an odometer style number counter instead of painted on numbers.

My guess is first day of school. Waiting on line for the big yellow bus to pick up and safely deliver future leaders of America.

I remember standing in lines very similar to this one. You would save your spot by leaving your books and/or lunch box in the line so you could play tag, catch or some other game to pass the time.

These Houston pics really remind me of when I was a little kid and lived out in Spring Branch in '63 through '69. I remember seeing the Astrodome just after it was at that stage. I also remember that Sakowitz store and that Joske's which was practically right across the street. There was a restaurant that was in that Joske's that I loved to go to with my parents.

The 73 car, John Chalik owner. Wasn't this Kurtis' last stand for all basic intents? As I remember Junior Johnson was in the seat and didn't make the show. May have been the only time the car ran. The car still exists, I've seen photos of it from some of the concours.

The driver in the last photo looks like Wilbur Shaw.

That's a old Buick that they made into a truck, very common in the day.
