    I want that to be one of Jack Northrops flying wings, but they were all gone by 65....... weren't they?

    Rootie, now that I think about it after the Lister deal Al Dean also sold his Kuzma Championship car to Harlan Fike. I think this happened at the end of the 1959 season. Wayne Weiler, a**** many others, also drove the Champ car for Fike in addition to his runs in the Lister.

    I remember looking out of the window of my 9th grade algebra cl*** and seeing Fred Lorenzen walking across the LaFayette Ford lot across the street.

    That looks like it might be Jerry Unser but I'm darned if I recognize either the car or the venue.

    Jerry drove the 172 twice for Mickey Thompson. 1958 Riverside, 1959 Los Angeles Fairgrounds.

    Yes it is Jerry Unser and that is Mickey Thompson in the wheelchair. My understanding is that Unser took over after M/T hurt his leg in a practice crash. The car is a Caddy powered Kurtis. A bit of trivia is that a later driver of that car was Roger Beck the sprint car builder.
