    Hello,

Nice shot of the Corvette. College homecoming has been going on forever. Parades on campus, down through the nearby town streets, etc. There are definite advantages to living in a small town vs the larger cities. These parades and festivities have filtered down to the community high schools as big time events.

Our city was one of the largest in So Cal back in the high school days. Plus, there were three high schools within the Long Beach, CA borders. So, the whole city could not get behind just one high school for homecoming. Those events took place at their own stadiums or on the night of the homecoming football games.

But, some small towns, today, have shut down their main street for high school homecoming parades. The small So Cal city, San Clemente, shuts down the main street downtown for the annual San Clemente High School homecoming parade. Every year, the street is shut down…after school is out at 3:00 pm.

The families, friends, city officials, school administration, all are part of the festivities. This main street is the same one shut down during the annual San Clemente Car Show that happens every year in June. But, this time, the homecoming parade and football game is in October.

But, coastal small town events aren’t just car shows and surf festivals. It is the community spirit that sparks the city.
