That's a great pic. There was at least one of these 1940s Austin trucks still in daily use as a water tanker when I visited Turkey in the late 1980s.

We had a "Sivil's" drive in in Dallas from the 40's through the late 60's. Mrs. Sivil interviewed and hired all the
uniformed car hop girls. They were directed from a car hop manager in a tower overlooking the parking area.
On Friday and Saturday nights, in the 60's, there was an almost impenetrable line of rods circling around the lot.

  5. I lived in Irving and we use to cruise over to Sivil’s on the weekend . What a fun time for a young greaser! Blue

The gas stations and drive-in's of today match the cars(which all look like a computer mouse) boring!

I agree ...a true family "archive" photograph from a dusty box of prints carries so much more history, weight, and backstory than the "google cruiser" multi-posts we see all the time.....
don't care much for the essays either.........just old pix,please....that's what I came for!!!

Pfeiffer's was a sponsor at Lebanon Valley Dragway and many of the cars running there. Couldn't go more than a few minutes when the announcer would mention them
