I own a NOS propeller exactly like this one did some research and discovered this bit of news. If this is off topic it can be deleted. She really did work at the factory. Norma Jean Dougherty.

Just to squeak outside of the parameters for a second - Norma Jean is fixing a propeller on a Radioplane /US Army OQ-2 remote control drone. Parts are very hard to find and quite collectible today. Hang onto your prop!
Further proof that Marilyn had the Midas touch...

In 1959-60, the popularity of the results in the Drag News reports listed every class racing at the local dragstrips. The top of the list were the stock car classes, with the most participation. Then, the Gas Coupe and Sedan classes, etc, all the way down to the classes that had the fewest entries. The gas dragsters started at A/Gas and went down in size and weight to the E and sometimes F class. Most of the smaller motor FEDs were in the last two classes.

It was just as competitive as the larger motor classes, but big, 4 cylinder FEDs vs small 265 Chevy motor race cars and small flatheads made it almost as exciting as the A/Gas dragsters. At some dragstrips, they were classified as just being in the four barrel class.

But, there was one really tiny FED race car at Riverside Raceway in 1959. Boy, that was a small one.

Those drone engines were being sold as surplus in the late 50's; used to see the ad in Popular Science..I wanted one in the worst way for a go kart but had no money..

And in the second photo Ray Crawford received some painful injuries in this crash. He had multiple broken ribs among other injuries. And ex-WWII fighter pilot ace Crawford was a pretty fearless guy according to a guy I knew who worked on one of his Indy efforts. And as a test pilot he was taking turns flying the new Lockheed P-80 jet with American Ace of Aces Richard Bong when Bong was killed. One story has it that Crawford and Bong flipped a coin to see who would get to fly first. Crawford won the toss and taxied out only to have a mechanical problem that brought him back to the hangar. Bong insisted that it was now his turn and so took off on what turned out to be a fatal flight when he too had a malfunction.
