Looks like a '35 or '36 Studebaker, just a guess I don't know Studes that well.

 

I believe this is the Galley West Restaurant next to Marineland in Palos Verdes.
I worked there (one of my first "real" jobs) for a summer after High School as a pot washer then moved up to dish washer. What sweat jobs those were! Knew then and there, there was something better to do than this!
The waitresses went crazy one night when "James Bond" Sean Connery walk in.

It's certainly a 1935 Studebaker, but it's unclear what model it is.

The Lil' Ol' Whine maker. Local Phoenix area drag car from the '60s. Mid engined blown Hemi on nitro. A replica of this machine has recently been built here in Phoenix, complete with blown, nitro drinking Hemi.

 

Local Phoenix drag racers Stienegger and Eshenbaugh. Albert Eshenbaugh (far right) currently runs a 200+mph streamliner at Bonneville and El Mirage.

Jerry Hoyt was a pretty gifted driver who had a lot of talent. He was also something of a heartthrob who always had any number of women going after him. And that included Tony Hulman's daughter Mari. The day that this qualifying line photo was taken at Milwaukee Hoyt put the Wolcott supercharged Offy on the front row only to go out early with mechanical issues. He was pretty close with Herb Porter who was the Wolcott mechanic. Two weeks after this photo was taken he was involved in the Johnny Thomson crash at Langhorne which left him with a broken jaw that was wired back in place. In spite of this he went ahead and got married to an Indianapolis based fashion model and kept on racing. One of his friends told me that by the time he got to Oklahoma City in July for a AAA sprint car race the jaw was giving him a lot of pain and that Jerry likely shouldn't even have been driving. He drove anyway and that's where he had his fatal accident.

 

Just a bit of trivia here on Stewart-Warner.They used to make a really top quality console radio.All vacuum tube chassis.They had a huge speaker at the front center(15 inch IIRC).Great sound for the time.A friend has one that is all original,except for the speaker witch finally died from old age.Replaced it with a NOS piece.Still working great.Build date was 1940.
