The Dragmaster car was run out of the Dragmaster East Speed Shop in Norwalk, Ct.
Dover Drag Strip was a home track for this Corvette.

That's got to be Betty Brosmer, surely? Apparently not. Googling the image seems to indicate it's a modern pic promoting a vintage clothing place.

Wow. I didn't even notice them. Now I can also see an older lady crossing the street. And cars parked....

I like the caved in passenger door. It probably happened the night before and she didn't have time to round up another bridal car. I remember, back in the day, we used to use friends cars for the bridal party. This was before people started renting limos and party buses.

"but that is" has disappointed me more times than I'd like to admit to.

Before the neighborhood drug dealers tied tennis shoes together and flung them over the power lines to mark their location they did that.

    Hello,
Disneyland opened in July 1955 in Anaheim, CA. The main attractions were the space rocket, ride to the moon and the drive your self Autopia. My dad took us to the park a couple of weeks after the grand opening. Of course, my first park attraction ride was the Autopia. "WOW, I get to steer and go fast." (well, as fast as possible.)

Several weeks after the park officially opened in July.

The monorail did not appear until 1959. Of course, we had to go back and visit the park, again. Jump up many years later and my friend from high school got a job in the graveyard shift. That was when the maintenance crews got to go really fast and have races with those cars. No rev limiters for that night crew. But, when we went back to Disneyland with a bunch of friends, he did not want to ride the Autopia or the Monorail. It may have been because his crew did the maintenance and the cars weren't as fast as the graveyard races.

When it comes to dragsters in the early and middle 1950's, there were not that many to find and copy. This car (Don Garlits') is actually better than most. At least it had some semblance of a roll bar. I suspect that the reason the roll bar was in front of the driver was that the driver's seat probably hung off the rear of the car, most likely behind where the back of the frame ended. Don's entire body is exposed to whatever the engine wants to do if and when it explodes...

Or perhaps it says on the plane "Clipper Constitution," it is not a KC97 but is a clipper.

My maternal grand dad visiting his daughter in LA after she gave birth to their first grandchild (me). He posed with the car near an oil field, but it was not his oil field. My dad picked this car up cheap because the engine had what sounded like a fatal noise. It was a 1953 Jaguar Mark VII. After replacing the timing chain it ran like a champ. It was a beauty with a real walnut dash and in near flawless condition. Dad drove it cross country to work in New Jersey, but Jersey did not allow any tinting on the windows. This car had a mild factory tint, not film. I'm not even sure if film was available in 1957. The cost to replace the glass was prohibitive so the car was sold. Darn, another one of dad's cool cars that I would loved to have had him keep! IMG_1468.JPG
