One of these is in the GM Heritage Center in Sterling Heights Michigan.
The display inside is amazing to see, it starts as a rural area, and progresses to futuristic city a step at a time.

One of these liners was at The Dunkirk NY swap meet last year, selling memorabilia.
    Private owner.

"Back in the Day" one of them came to the couty fair in Niagara County NY.

Right, WingNutz! Nielsen argued that he should have been doing comedy all along (though he'd done well in dramas). After seeing him and Priscilla Presley having "safe sex" in full-body condoms ... well, I could disagree with ol' Les there! LOL

Two big Yankee baseball stars pause for a photo-op with two
obscure fans. Left to right: Mickey Charles Mantle, Mary Ann
Kappelhoff, Archibald Alexander Leach and Roger Eugene
Maris. Great country back then! Commoners could get their
    pix taken with baseball ROYALTY!!!

I think Mickey's middle name was Cochrane, after Mickey Cochrane.

The first Morrison St. bridge in the foreground. I recognized the location before seeing the note above. Love the old Portland shots - which surprisingly enough, there haven't been all that many in this absolutely fantastic thread.

Mary Ann Kappelhoff = Doris Day
Archibald Alexander Leach = Cary Grant

  12. There seem to be very few shots of Portland, forget about the 60's and 70's. I'm trying to remember, would the old Journal building be just South of the bridge?

I do think that "The Mick" helped Roger. Mickey made no pretense. When he came to the plate, he might not make the fence, BUT said he was gonna hit the hell out of it as hard as he could, every time. That's true.

I still have my Post baseball cards from that great time! (I didn't have money for the real thing, so I cut my BB cards out of Post cereal boxes! LOL)

Before this was a parking garage, it was the location of the grand Portland Hotel. The hotel was demolished in the early 1950's to make way for the parking garage. The parking garage was torn down in the 1970's to make way for the Pioneer Courthouse Square - the exact location of the attempted terrorist bombing last Friday night!

  28. I'm not sure if it was one, or two of these were parked on US41 at a shop next to the Full-Moon Cafe in Lake Bluff, Il. 10-12 years ago. They were in what looked like original condition. Looked like Old GM chassis with a big inline motor. Wasn't sure what they were then. I don't remember any markings or signs on them.

Here's a shot of the Portland Hotel which once stood on the spot of the parking garage (I'll keep looking for a better picture of this once grand hotel):

Here's a shot from 1951 of the Hotel being demolished:

Here's how that location looks today:

And thankfully it does still look that way today. If Mohamed Osman Mohamud had his way last Friday, there would be nothing but a big hole here. :(
