I wonder what this picture is all about? Are the license plates European? Check out the one I circled, tube grille, nosed, hood spears smoothed, and lowered. It looks good.

Chevrolet Dealership, early 50's.

 

This is the hemi version of The Freight Train which Walt Rhoades drove. He told me that those were his engines when I asked about the car a few years back. His grandson was on the same junior dragster team as my daughter season before last.

 

This picture was posted by Gary a few pages back and brings back a decent memory for me. In this picture the gentleman standing next to the car is our WWI flying ace and new owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Eddie Rickenbacker. I believe that Marmon paced the race in 1928 and Eddie bought the track in 27 I believe. Marmon was based out of Indianapolis so a no brainer on using their great cars.
And here is a picture of the wife and I crossing the bricks in another Marmon at the 100 year celebration in 2011. My buddy drove one of his V16 Marmons and asked me to drive another of his V16 Marmons. A good memory for sure (in front of the same but remodeled pagoda and at the bricks no less).

 

Had one just like it,no use for it when we moved to a suburb without sidewalks.
