In the Sawyer White Garage pic,Remains of a truck hit by a Pacific Electric car are seen in front of the shop.
In the next pic, shows the Pacific Electric train that hit it.
The pier shot shows people with long poles,
back when they actually caught nice fish,
nowadays hardly anything worth mentioning is caught off that pier,

  14. We used to fish off Manhattan Beach pier and catch Bonito and sell them to the tourists (what they did with them I have no idea) for 25¢ so we could buy some more live bait to catch more.

Like Novadude said "nowadays hardly anything worth mentioning is caught off that pier".

Yep, and the view from it now is tragic, it should be renamed "Subdivision Tower" there isn't an orange tree in sight. I took an English mate of mine up there and he didn't tell me he was claustrophobic until we got to the top.

Why are Moon pies called Moon pies?

Sorry Nova, I didn't mean it to sound the way it does. I lost my old images from back in the day, I've nothing to post and there are lots of things I can identify with on this thread. I may have lost the images, but I didn't lose my mind - I have a '34 Chevrolet rod. I enjoy your posts -
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you!

The self-named Bonus Expeditionary Force was an assemblage of some 43,000 marchers—17,000 World War I veterans—who protested in Washington, D.C., 1932. Called the Bonus March, the Bonus Marchers were more popularly known as the Bonus Army. The veterans were encouraged in their demand for immediate cash-payment redemption of their service certificates by retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler, one of the most popular military figures of the time.
Many of the war veterans had been out of work since the beginning of the Great Depression. The World War Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 had awarded them bonuses in the form of certificates they could not redeem until 1945. Each Service Certificate, issued to a qualified veteran soldier, bore a face value equal to the soldier's promised payment plus compound interest. The principal demand of the Bonus Army was the immediate cash payment of their Certificates.
On July 28, U.S. Attorney General William D. Mitchell ordered the veterans removed from all government property. Washington police met with resistance, shots were fired and two veterans were killed. President Hoover then ordered the army to clear the veterans' campsite. Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur commanded the infantry and cavalry supported by six tanks. The Bonus Army marchers with their wives and children were driven out, and their shelters and belongings burned. Two more of the veterans died.

Jimi's hemi, talking of Vue Master, my uncle who had lived in the US, in Chicago to be exact since 1966 used to send us slides, that was my first exposure to America. I was utterly mindblown, pics of LAX, Los Angeles' roads, the skyline of NYC and Chicago, the long exposure lights of cars on massive bridges and not to mention the cars themselves, huge hunks of gleaming steel and chrome that could eat Morris Minors and spit out their bones............

    .........and all in glorious 3D
