I worked on a "Hostess Cupcake" commercial at Ann Blyth's house in the 1970's. She was in the commercial so it was shot there, not far from Bob's Big Boy in Burbank/Toluca Lake.
Across the street lived Red Foxx, the comedian (Sanford and Son).
We had out grip truck parked out front and Redd was sitting on the front steps of his house chatting back and forth with us guys while we were working.
He had his new Mercedes being washed in the driveway by some guy that did fancy-ass car washes with a truck full of cleaning goodies.
So, we were shooting the shit and he's got a bottle of beer in his hand and he looks at me and says...
"you know you've made it in show business as a black man when you can drink beer while you have some white dude wash your Mercedes".
Anyways, he kept us laughing all day long.
He even had a pretty nasty dune buggy along-side of the house.

  3. Nope, Natalie Wood. That is one awesome pic. She looks fabulous.
Any ideas where that pic originated, i.e. a movie scene, etc?????

We saw her driving around in Santa Barbara a couple of months ago. She had her name on the license plate of a Vette. My wife was first to recognize who she was.

Spent some time searching through 10K plus vintage images on the Iowa DOT Historic photo collection and came up with some interesting stuff to share.

There are a heck of a lot from the highway commission that go into early road construction if you are into that?

Let's start with some I will call winter wonderland.

How about some gas stations and check out the way they used to paint the center line down the road?

Here are a few from the family archives.
Pic 1 is my two sisters on what I believe is a 30's Chevy. Can someone identify?
Pic 2 is my brother and cousin on an old Ford. Year?
Pic 3 is me beside my Dad's prized '49 Lincoln.
Pic 4 is Dad beside the Lincoln.
Pic 5 is Dad and a neighbor beside what looks like a Chevy Special Deluxe based on the name on the side. Year?
We were all a LOT younger then!!
