Grahame, I can only recall seeing a pic like this one other time. (Apparently,
people didn't photograph cabs much.) Is this a Checker? Or, maybe, a Hupp?

No, she shouldn't have been allowed to come back. Same as anyone else who left the country because of it!

I think those were the James Garner s.c Ramblers he ran at Baja ?

  14. I'm not sure of Garner's involvement, but SC/Ramblers were from 1969,and Jim was involved with the Hickey Olds Cutlass/442 projects at that time. Those look like '66-7 Ramblers. Got any more info on those?

Latest issue of Hot Rod has a good article on the Garner/Olds cars and history.

    Hope not a re-post.
I have read from day one and not seen this photo of Don Garlts in the T bucket that started it all.
    What a true pioneer.

  18. This T-Bucket "started it all " ?

And I thought it was Norm Grabowski...and Tommy Ivo's T's.

    Or maybe Ed Iskendarian.

    Tell me more.

And...regarding Don Garlits in his formative years, here's a photo of the "T" with lengthened wheelbase. Note body, engine and seat set back. I don't believe this had ever been done.

I worked just around the corner from the Ventura Chapter of the ANGELES, and met a few of them, and maybe Sonny. As long as you were not a jerk about things, they weren't bad people, but if you were . Nice bikes, but loud.
