One of these shovels is on display east of Pittsburg, Kansas. It's called Big Brutus and is near West Mineral. It is worth the side trip! That good looking woman in my avatar with me has been married to me for almost 39 years now. That is one of those things she said, "You just go on and climb to the top of that shovel. I'll watch from the ground."

  3. Actually they were called CT-70's. I worked at a Honda dealer in the 1970's and used to assemble them from the shipping crates (along with every other new Honda) and then give them their 500 mile service when they came back for it. Those were the days!

Tommy Ivo and his T-Bucket were featured in the Hollywood
production "Dragstrip Girl." Ironically, Ivo played the heavy,
and the movie script called for him to steal his own car!

Norman Rockwell, titled "The Soda Jerk"
Yes, these guys were that popular and this was the "plum" of kid jobs.
Girls were always treated well unless an overt snob.

Rockwell was a master! Some might say in retrospect that he pictured life through rose-colored glasses. I say, SO WHAT?!?" He did catch so many DETAILS of ordinary people in their daily lives (look at the young teens' expressions, body language, hair and dress). HE CAUGHT THE ESSENCE of a scene and created a visual TIME CAPSULE.

I just wish he'd have done some covers for hotrod mags!!!! LOL

My guess is she's looking at her "date" who is taking the picture. Prob parent chaperones on the right. Skirt appropriate length and correct ladies white gloves indicate a special outing. I went on such dates.

***Note to younger HAMBers--dump any modern snotty chicks that want you to spend lots of $$ on them. This is a cheap date and she loves it. Look at that smile!
These are the kind of women that will pass wrenches to you on a Saturday night and (usually) not complain.

It was John Agar who was the first husband of "America's
Sweetheart," Shirely Temple, 21. Thanks to the archives
of LIFE magazine, here are the newlyweds on the big day,
Sept. 19, 1945 -- he in his Army Air Corps uniform, she in
her wedding gown. Their bond lasted four years.

1960 pop culture. The hot rod becomes mainstream.

Classic. Should be taken to heart. Thanx, sixdogs.

follow this link http://picasaweb.com/mikebourg1 and you will find some old picturs of vintage motorcycles and a few cars, these were taken in 1980 at a sabers show and then the ones with the nice signs were taken at harrahs auto musem before it was sold out and broken up, one problem at harrahs was that everything was so close together to get any really good pictures, plus we didn`t have enough time to really see the place, it was huge
