Most poodle skirts were sewn at home with a foot-tredle Singer sewing machine. In fact, most girs/women sewed at least some of their clothes. Here's a typical poodle skirt pattern shown with trees instead. Same pattern.

Gosh I wish more of these sources would include the LOCATION and at least the year on these ol' junkyard shots! Without that, the pix become sort of just sad photo compositions without virtually no substantial foundation.

Jimi: I think I need to clarify and expand a tad here. I wasn't after Grahame's (MrFire) butt, as he isn't the original source of the pix. But, as Nitro said, it would take ONLY an extra 60 seconds to include info that was provided at the get-go. Many of these pix are located in libraries, and they cataloguing involves keeping the accompanying info. But I do think the same could be said for many, if not most, other photos too. If we all do a little extra, this fab thread could be a resource and not only a feast for the eyes. (Generalization there, but most will get my point.) Sharing pix is great, but guys and gals have all said they hunger for learning stuff they never knew before. 'nough said. Sure don't wanna piss anybody off; just calling it as I see it.

I usually ckeck through the sites from which I post photographs. Unfortunately, there isn't much helpful information at times.
A photo, without details, can still jog the memory, it just may not be in the correct perspective on occassion. :)

    This was the site:

    http://www.monstermarketplace.com/a...rican-junkyard-1940s-large-b-and-w-photograph

and this was all the associated information:
    "Details

American Junkyard-1940'slarge b&w photograph, c. 1946, recent print filled with cars from the 1930's and early 1940's, hours of fun trying to pick out the vintage cars heading for the scrapper, 21.5" x 17", A- cond., (light handling wear)."

  14. LOL! Those are SOME details! The worst part is the phrase, "vintage cars heading for the scrapper"!

    Please note:

Hey guys we have a ton of cool old pictures on here,.. but there was another picture thread a while ago that got shut down, because we got way to far off topic with the pictures and O/T content,..... Just wanted to remind all of us to police our selfs, to make sure it doesn't happen on this thread,....
