  2. Skagit Boats (pronounced with a soft G as in Gentle) were built here in Skagit County WA out of a boat yard in LaConner. They were built from 55-61 or so, and their most popular style was the small "bellboy" with the cuddy cabin.

They're still fairly common out here. They pop up on craigslist quite often.

    Here's a link to a Skagit club:

Thanks Mimic but the 32 was really a pale yellow. The 34 was close to what you have, maybe a bit more purple.

Heh. The Cotton Club pic with the band in the street next to the Jag or Daimler sedan looks to be photoshopped. Notice that the saxophone is left handed? Never happened, never made. All the string players are left handed, and the name on the marquee is probably the band in the street. A modern retro unit most likely. Pretty clever.

Are these shots of damage from the Long Beach earthquake in 1933? It was a 6.4 and lots of brick fell.

I can barely read the small print, but I think it says the fire started from an electrical short. The heat from that fire evidently melted the plastic fuel line and since the fuel pump did not shut off, the fire was fed from a continuous flow of fuel. It's a wonder the fire didn't totally consume the car... the crew must have done some bang-p job of fire fighting!

Humm... bad wiring, "cool" plastic fuel lines and electric fuel pumps... still a winning combo today, eh, if not done with the finest materials, installed properly or with adequate safeguards? Gary

Cordova near Moline, Illinois, was one of the first purpose-built dragstrips in the country. At the time, most drag racing was done on airport runways or on the street.

When this structure was built in the late '40's, there was a restaurant inside called "Mike Limmons".

Could this be my current truck???? Remnants of the tri-angle angle iron attatched near the tailgate are on my truck as well, was that a common practice? Also, my truck supposedly came from CA.

Yes, the bottom photo is from the LB '33 earthquake. I am not sure about the top one.

Several schools were also heavily damaged. Fortunately, school was not in session. Lots of changes to building codes were made in response to damage from the LB '33 earthquake.

I am looking for photos of the LB Packard dealer taken after that earthquake. They were still selling cars weeks afterward from the heavily damaged showroom.

Please post if you have them. Thanks in advance.

I notice the 1st pic has a side mount for the spare?
    Does yours have that too?
The triangle fix was common(I've seen a few) probably due to the lack of support for the fenders.

Hmmm. Looks like you have spots to each side of the rear window where maybe that old Headache Rack had been rubbing.

  27. Used to be a "Slo Pokes" club in Washington State in the '60's. Don't know what affiliation these Iowa guys have, if any? Crow. LFFL
