Those are really cool Olmon, w34e've had discussions like that so many times at my house.

IFS, IRS, electric start, disc brakes, front wheel drive... there are tons of things like that that were very very old when they were supposedly a new technology... And then there is all the things that modern cars have that they call innovative... like steerable headlights, a sliding roof panel on one of GMs SUV's a few years back, just like Studebaker had in the wagons long before...

This thread is an amazing history lesson that couldn't be reproduced by any museum or history book... I hope its being preserved somewhere.

IamQ, you said it. From Post #1, Dog set no real guidelines, just gave some examples -- hints of the possibilities. Guys and gals took off from there and have created an eclectic thing of, well, BEAUTY, practically with a life of its own. Each poster brings his/her style for a few pix/posts, then somebody else steps in -- bringing HISTORY back to LIFE!

There's an occasional whiner, sniper or belly-acher, but otherwise the thread is, if not perfect, ALWAYS entertaining, enlighting, enriching!

The partial building on the left in the photograph was the AMP building where Gen. Macarthur had his office from 1942-1945. The building is now called Macarthur Chambers and houses retail shops and units.

All reports of the "battle" were censored at the time. Depending on which articles are read, the events vary slightly. There were similar "battles" in various Australian towns/cities and another in NZ in 1943.

I really do, I own 2 56 Meteor wagons right now, a Rideau 500 9 passenger with all the options, and a Niagara (the cheaper one) That big stainless swoop on the front looks too cool to me, and 3 tone paint is so 1950's!

All those Meteor grilles were a really big deal in the late 50's/early 60's when they were fitted to the front of a comparable year US made Ford and shown in the pages of a rod and custom magazine. They sure added an interesting touch.
