Just discovered this thread ... and it looks like it will take me months to go through every picture, etc. The ones from Los Angeles and Southern California bring back fond memories of my growing up there in the 1950's and 1960.s It is so good to see that these pictures are being preserved here for future generations ... THANKS to everyone who have posted these.

From the info I can find, there were 783 '42 Mercury wagons produced. They bring pretty good bucks these days.

I think that one and the following one here are coach built, vs being factory ones, anyone have any info?

Good call. You are absolutely correct. I found this interesting story on how they came about.

  10. I could have bought a Nash Healy just like this one for 500 bucks from my neighbor, only it was in black. Had the six in it with two carbs. Came with a manual to put in their V8 guanteed to do 160 mph. I choice his father's 56 New Yorker with the 354 that originally came with the dual quads and mildly customized it. Came out beautiful. Damn, I'd love to have the NH today. Lot's of gremlins though.

The gremlins of early cars are normally easily solved today.

Not sure if the next two are actually vintage, but I'm sure you will all survive if they turn out not to be.

They are all showing up for me?

This seems to happen randomly to others where they don't work... I guess it's my turn.

    EDIT:
refreshed several times, used a different browser, they all show up except a few at the start for some reason... hopefully it temporary because some of these were very interesting.
