[I'd even be happy if you stumbled across some pics of Red's big bus that he and Bobby used to tow the midgets with. Or even some pics of Johnnie Parsons, Sr. building the first few LTC cars.

Actually the car fit in the back of the "white house" Let me see what I can find this weekend

For the couple LTC and Bobby Olivero fans, I have a quiz for you. Where and when did the LTC with the first VW Midget engine win it's first race? I was there and was about 11 or 12 yrs old.

These photos are in Memory of my uncle Jerry Karl, who was killed on Sat. in a traffic accident in Maryland. Jerry was a 6 time Indy 500 starter, and continued with his love of sprint car dirt track racing, owning and maintaining his sprint cars on the Central Pa tracks until 2006.
This photo is Jerry in 1966 at Harrington Del. racing in the URC.

Here is a Model I built of Jerry in the #15. It is a Micro-machine toy and is only about an inch long.[IMG]

Many years later, after retiring from Indy car racing,Jerry took a ride at Latimore Valley Pa,demonstrating for the fans how it was in the old days of cageless sprint cars. This is the historic Frankie Cal sprinter, which was tragically destroyed in a garage fire sometime after these photos were taken.

Jerry also raced Midgets and TQs. Here Jerry is at Hershey Stadium in 1968 in the Fahey Offy #18. Jerry won the feature race on Labor Day at Hershey in this car.

Here Jerry is driving the ex-Bob Tattersall Honker II,owned by Ken Brenn in 1968 at Hershey Pa. Brenn must have just bought the car,as it is still in Bob Tattersall colors.

Jerry in the Mataka Bros #75 Midget at Hershey in 1969. In 1969,HARC mandated the use of Roll cages, which Jerry was opposed to at the time. He said when they put cages on them, just anybody can drive one of these cars... This is a USAC race in the photo, though, where cages were still optional in 1969.

He had a tremendous battle with Bruno Brackey in the #71.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the tribute. On a HAMB related note,Jerry got his start way back in the 1950s, when he did some Hot Rodding and Street racing on Long Island. I don`t have any pictures of those cars,though,unfortunately...

My aunt Linda Said the first time Jerry ever picked her up for a date,He showed up at her house in a Cad powered 1949 Ford with flames on it! She said it was loud-LOL.

I don`t know what my Grandma(Linda`s mom) thought about that!

Buildy, I'm sorry for your loss, he was a real deal racer of the first order no doubt. Thank you for sharing those fantastic pics. Between you, Roy C., Corngrower etc. we've got us some serious racing history going here in our little HAMB world.

I should know this, and probably did once, but I find that nowdays I suffer from chronic 'brain-fade' on anything much past a week ago. :(
Just guessing here: When?... 1973 maybe, but more likely 74. Where?.. So. Cal./Southwest most likely... Ascot, Corona, El Cajon maybe Craig Road in L.V. ?

    NEVERMIND!
Yeah, yeah, I cheated, well I was close on the year, but waaaay off on the location.

And the current owner of the Frankie Cal car is standing to the right. That's Marty Himes who runs a museum out of his house here on Long Island. Along with this car he also has a couple of midgets and some older flathead powered stock cars as well.

Marty took his cars to Latimore Valley for a while, until they started getting on him for going to fast. Marty's in his 70's now and hasn't slowed down to much.

There's nothing like the sound of an offy motor. :)

I Thought the tire treatment was a interesting set-up, love seeing the Sprinters running white walls...

That narrows it down considerably, Swede Savage would sure fit the discription.
