Thought the BELANGER car was in the INDY museum?

...and I thought the museum owned all the cars on display...?

    (I don't know.. I'm asking you guys?) ;)

For sure one of the baddest cars of ALL TIME! Absolutly Beautiful!!

(Roy, how many "Laps" did you run in that car when you worked at the museum as a young lad, and you got to sit in them all) :D

I worked there 4 years, since that was one of my two favorite cars I had to make sure the dash was clean in the 99 car everyday, easiest way to do that was to sit in the car ;) so lets see ran 500 miles everyday for four years so thats what 130000 miles or so

  4. This is the Belanger Special in the Indy Museum. 1951 Indy 500 winner. It is later than the one the Crawford is auctioning.

I think the car up for auction is the Belanger Spl. driven by Duane Carter in 1949-50. A Stevens, numbered 17, started 5th finished 14th in '49, and numbered 18 started 13th finished 12th in '50. The Belanger in the Museum is the #99 Kurtis that Lee Wallard won with in '51. Metal Bender's recreation is of the 99 car, and I agree it's one of the prettiest Indy cars ever.
There were a lot of Belanger Specials, going back to a pre-war Miller and ending with Tony B. in a KK500C roadster in 1956.

This is the Blair's Offy. Blair owned a speed shop in Pasadena, CA. Colby Scroggins and Jimmy Oskie drove the car at Ascot mainly. It was restored and is owned by Bennett Smith of Dallas.

It is Hank Henry car and when Henry was inducted into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame, this was the car on display for the ceremony.

It is a very nice car.

Here is a photo we took in January for a mag article.

..Don't know if this is an appropriate question for this thread but does anybody know of a Hank Henry sprinter that might be for sale? For a short period Hank lived in Tucson and I got to know him. A very nice guy with lot's of patience with a snot nosed teenager.

The photo looks like a painting. Both it and the car are beautiful.
Anybody know how many Offys Hank built? Seems like most were SBC's.

Just getting caught up and see that "Spike" suffered a possible stroke. Really sorry to hear that. Like most of you on this post I do not know Spike, but he is obviously one of "us". Like many of you I will keep Spike in my prayers.

According to the NSCHoF bio he probably built less than 20 sprints and supers combined, so not very many.

When we did the shoot the photographer www.danbryant.com wanted to do the HDR process.

As you can see, it turnd out great. We got a lot of great photos that cold winter day.

Here is my Hillegass midget behind my 1955 Chevy 150 early that morning. If I had not been there for the photo I would swear this was a painting.

    Just an update on my Dad;

After many tests today the doctors say that if it was a stroke it was a very small one. His speech is MUCH better and he can move the right arm and leg now so he's going to be ok and should be back home tuesday or wed of this week.

Thanks again for all the kind words and your prayers.

    Scott
