I may not have read the offense correctly but to me appears that it's not a matter of counterfiet hardware but a matter of counterfiet certification lables being put on the equipment being produced by Impact, which is owned by Bill Simpson I think I read somewhere. So it appears to me that Impact was cheaping out and not paying SFI's tarriff for labels but I don't know that you need to make the panic leap and think the equipment wasn't made to appropriate specs. With that being said it's still a business practice from Impact that I don't condone and they should have to pony up.

Not sure what the safety standards are these days but I suspect most if not all racing organizations require SFI certified belts so it's the racers that are going to get screwed over because there is no way Impact is going to issue everybody refunds, they would go bankrupt long before that happens. I'm guessing that SFI gave Impact the option to pay up with penalties and it would appear Impact turned them down. So the racers are going to be stuck buying new safety equipment to replace equipment that is very likely built to the appropriate specs. I could be wrong but that's the way it read to me when I read about it over the weekend.

Josh, Dennis Unger send me a CD with photos from the Columbus Reunion. Your sprinters, as should have been expected, are beautiful.

I was wondering if anybody has any pictures of Danny Kladis Sr? He used to race in the Mississippi Valley Midget Racing Association in 1946, 47, and 48. He also drove in the Central States Racing Association in 1939 and 40. He drove an IMCA sprint car in 1963. He won most of his races in the UARA in 1962. My girlfriends Dad is Danny Kladis Jr. He is looking for pictures to put in a photo album. His brother George Kladis was a midget driver also. Thank you in advance for your help.

I just received an email from a friend that says Stan Lobitz says he does own the Sweikert car. I have no reason to doubt the veracity.

As a newbie on this site, I am overwhelmed at the collective knowledge, wit, and wisdom contained within. I am seeking help in finding images of a#48 Sumar dirt? car that was restored by Joe Fiore, and I believe ended up belonging to a NASCAR crew chief. My needs are shots of both sides, anything else would be a bonus. This is for an illustration and a tether car project both. I am also looking for shots of the#24 & 25 Les Vaughn offy cars from 56,57,58 when they were in pink and black. There are plenty of shots of AJ Foyt in the car in 57, but I am more interested in other images. Any help or direction on this would be most appreciated...

Didn't know there was a Danny Kladis Jr........I bought Danny's IMCA sprint car at his auction in Oct. 08. I have some pictures and memorabilia that I bought also. There were lots of people in the Chicago area who bought lots and lots of pictures, trophies and other stuff. George Kladis should be able to help you with any info you need as he is a good guy and very helpful.

Does anyone have any photos of "The Long Brothers Special", an orange and white sprint, #55, that ran in Oh and Fla in the early to middle 1960's? Thank you.

Great thread guys, I like the "living history" stories. Though it is new compared to pre 69, I was part of the pit crew on the top season car for 1981 in Skaget Speedway WA. Real excitement for sure.

    Onwards!

    Hi Ron67,
If you send me your email address, I might have a shot of the car after I finished it.

Here's some pics I scanned from the '08 Legends of Ascot program. The first one is of Bob Hogle in the brand new Edmunds Tamale Wagon #1 and Stan McElrath in Bill Pratt's Hank Henry built #12- 1969.

The second one is George Farmer in his second year (69) in his Edmunds along with Gary Ponzini in the middle and John Kellar up high.(that's the same John Kellar from the earlier posted video of the guy falling out of his car at Ascot.)

Number three- two of the handful of offys still running in 1969. Jack Brunner in the Williamson #90 and Walt Reiff in Louis Senter's #76.

number four- Bob Hogle slings the original Roger McCluskey built tamale wagon through a turn in the last season this car ran -1968.

.....'Thanks for those, jerracer. 'Talk about some very well known cars. I think if you go back on this site, you can find Farmer's Edmunds now down in Australia. The day George lost his life at El Centro, everyone kept commenting on how the car...could have run the feature later that day it was so unscathed. And Gary Ponzini had his Hank Henry down at the '06 Legends of Ascot. 'That was A DAY! Parnelli rolled Al Unser's Viceroy dirt car onto an old flat-bed trailer and towed it over to Perris himself so Al, as Grand Marshall that year, could take a few hot-laps that night. Unfortunately, they didn't have a low enough gear to run so, the DOHC Ford just sounded like an old 289 with no mufflers!

Danny Kladis drove in the 1946 Indianapolis 500. He drove Andy Granatelli former Miller Ford then the Grancor V-8 Special. Danny started 33rd and finished 21st. Danny was at the speedway as a driver nearly every year from 1946 untill 1957 but 1946 was his only start. He did releive Spider in the 1954 heat in Bruce Bromme's Advance Muffler Special taking over on lap 55 and it untill it quit lap lap 104 with a oil leak. The Speedway photo dept. probally has many photos of Danny for you, you can contact the Speedway at 1 317 481 8500.

Came across this in a bio on Roger McCluskey (who built the ECCA car) by Terry Reed. If true, I'd be curious as to what parts were used and how they found their way to Tucson long before McCluskey was much known outside the S/W (?) Hmmmm.
