Watched some of the 500. That start was junk! No one was lined up, I guess you don't call back the 500 start.(I know it doesn't really matter in a 500 mile race but COME ON GUYS! At least ACT like you belong there)

I wish Danica would have got knocked on her ass when she tried to walk down to the other guys pits (with her helmet on).... You wanna race with the boys, you'll get KNOCKED OUT like the boys. (Joey Kerr and I raced karts with Sarah Fisher a lot.. We didn't treat her any different than any other kid and she knew it.. She was a conservative racer.)

    Anyways, Congrats to Dixon.

    .

..anyone hear about a track worker getting hit (and killed) on Sat. I just heard it.. I guess he ran out on the track in front of Russ Gamester?

    Bad deal...

I'm sure I felt a slight shift in the rotation of the earth when she got hit...... BECAUSE THE WHOLE F#%KING WORLD REVOLVES AROUND DANICA PATRICK :D

Yeah... I didn't know how bad it was till I watched some of the 500, cause I never pay attention to that circuit or its drivers. But, what was the deal with them going to her car every five min. No matter if she had passed anyone (which she wasn't) or not.. And God help ANY Announcer and what he was saying if she said Anything over the Radio, Cause they would cut to her and what ever she was babling about..

I'm sorry, but money or a sponsors wet dream.. YOU SHOULDN"T RACE AT INDY UNLESS YOU HAVE WON A CHAMPIONSHIP IN SOME TYPE OF PROFESSIONAL MAJOR RACING..

(of coarse then the rich guys would just invent a series that they know there Golden child could win)

That is the first time I have ever been truly happy to see someone taken out of a race. I liked the side by side coverage so we could see Danica in a commercial, while we saw her driving by herself in 8th place also. My last rant is that a lot of news sites had Danica as the headline with Dixon as a sub story. God I need Lawrenceburg back!!!

I caught the accident after it had happened and didnt know who hit the guy but the reports indicate he and a couple other track workers hit the track way too soon.. We didnt know he passed away till sunday morning when we picked up a paper.. Tough deal..

I have helped pit a car in the infield of the little 500 and it is nothing more than organized chaos. This is sad that someone lost their life during this. For the most part. The track workers a the short tracks do so because they want to. I am sure the only thought he had at the time was to get to the drivers involved in the crash.

I feel bad also for Russ Gamester. I am sure this is not easy to live with.

O/T But good spread on 29sedanman's car in Rod and Custom....And I also agree,I think if your gonna run a major race like the 500 you sure as hell have better won a PRO Championship some where else before you even start your engine there, I only go to qlfying for the sake of habit, and have a good time.. But hey I'm not complaining I won $90 on Dixon....

  12. What I wanted to see was her knocking the security guard on his ass and then go down and knock that "no drivin' dumb asswipe", that took her out, on his ass!!!!!

Please explain to me what's wrong with the hype for Danica?

In NASCAR the hype is for Earnhardt Jr. and the Busch kid. So be it.

They do what they need to do to sell interest and tickets for the race series. Right now Danica is the key to do that.

In Indy Car open wheel racing, except for Danica, Marco and the Rahal kid, who is there on these shores to talk about? Helio, a non-USA resident, perhaps 'cause he won a dance contest?

Until there's a driver development program in place here, all you're gonna' get are imports with thick check books.

Personally, I thought the televised radio communication between her and the crew chief was quite remarkable.

She obviously has a fire in her to compete. Some of the drivers interviewed acted like they'd rather be on a golf course.

Where do these other "no-drivin' MF's" come from? How about that interview with the Asian driver? Now that REALLY kindled my interest in Indy Cars  .

Until they find more Parnelli's, AJs, Unsers, etc., you're stuck with what ya' have.

As for what was said about ya' need to be a champion in a pro series before ya' come to Indy, ya' outa' rethink that. And .......... a bunch of those championships are won by spending $dough$ on superior equipment, rather than being won by superior driver talent.

Frequently the guy that can really drive is the one that finished in the top 10 consistently, if the car holds together, rather than high financed champs.

What we have here is pollution, Danica wasn't even born when the heart of this thread was present day.

Dang it! The one race I really wanted to see last weekend, Hoosier 100, isn't going to happen in '08 :(

On the other topic, I'd rather see Milka Duno in the topless 500.

  16. It is a damn shame what they are letting the USAC Dirt Cars go to.

Nonames at Indy, and no Hoosier 100. Something is wrong with this picture, and nobody is REALLY trying to fix it.

Stuck is right! Don't have to look any further than Davey Hamilton, John Andretti and Sarah Fisher. They all came up through the American short tracks and they know what it's like to look over the tops of injector stacks while racing. Other than Sarah, did any of them even get a mention during the 3-4 hrs. of the race? NO! Check out Davey Hamiltons background and the tribulations he's been through the last several years, he's cut from the very same cloth as A.J., Herk, Kenyon, J.R. and Mears.
John Andretti has raced midgets, sprints, s/c, nascar and even top fuel dragsters for christsakes, but of course that is nothing compared to D.Ps. illustrious career.

(my camera was around my neck)Even my wife said she was hot :D.. I remember being at kzoo speedway when sarah fisher won the midget race there.. She has gained a little weight but she walked buy us at indy and she still looks pretty good in a fire suit.. Ill bet the guy that tucks Milka in the car has permanent wood:D:D:D:D

The 100 got rained out a few years ago and they re-schedualed it for Sept. It was fine.

I hope they do the same. How about it Roy? Whats the word from the "inside"

Usac dirt is alive and well and the race at terra haute was sweet.. having never been there both the wife and i commented on how well organized it was and the track wasnt bad considering its dirt and shit happens:D I have a new respect for non winged sprinters after watching the shit that goes on at a track like terra haute.. I need to catch up with the hoffman 69 group and thank em for talking me into going last thursday.. They were the only reason I went and now thanks to Josh ive really become a fan of theirs .. Oh ya spending some where tween an hour and 2 hours shooting the shit with the mechanic Dan and Tom Hoffman in anderson thursday morning helped also.. Great people and good guys to talk racing with.. I was upset the hoosier 100 got rained out too.. Ive been trying to see that one for 2 years now.. Ill try again next year.. The cost of fuel has to really play into who shows for these events too. Hopefully we will see a price drop and things get back to normal.. I did find out the other day thay sunday after the nats in knoxville iowa there running champ cars at iowa speedway.. never seen the race at knoxville and iowa speedway is a bonus round:DYup im taking monday off work too :D:D
Sorry to get off topic here ..

They don't want em, or they don't get it. I love Indy as much as anyone more than most, but the owners wont hire drivers based on talent, they all want money. They haven't had the best 33 drivers in the world at Indy since the 70's. They had Al Unser day, Tom Sneva day, etc etc this month, what are they going to have in 10 years Hedike Matsuda day?? No one I know relates with any of the drivers they have now. Their are PLENTY of Al Unsers, Parnelli's, etc. but they will only go as far as their checkbook will take them.

    cancelled! no race this year.

  23. If the roadsters had stayed, I think they would have been much like the Pavement supers on the east and west coast.

It was a bad bet to try to be like the europeans.

The product that sells is a slice of AMERICANA. Works for NASCAR.

Well put Roy. Vogler was the last of the "Talented" to get a ride at Indy without bringing money. He NEVER once paid for a ride EVER. He earned them.

Now... Enough of the intermision. The track has been turned over, watered.. and ran in. Lets get back to the racing!

    Enjoy.

Mark Bowles III brought me this picture of Jungle Park. Its different than most cause it shows more of the place. The driveway coming in off the road, That is still there today, and if you look up in the trees by the entrance on the Highway you'll see some white windows through the trees.. Well, that building is still there too as well as a chunk of the grandstands. If you have not been,,, GO! It was such a unique, crazy race track!
