Billy and Bob are great friends of mine, I lettered this Hot Rod with ole fashion engine turn silver leaf. I search this site all the time. Great to see this amazing car make it to the thread! And Bruce, is this the famous Bruce Anliker?

Famous? How'd I get famous? You sure you didn't confuse that with infamy? :D

Hope Billy doesn't mind me rippin' his pics and posting them here, but it's really a bad ass car. Next time I get back to Ioway I gotta stop in and see him and all his stuff!

A question from a dummy in the peanut gallery... what are the differences between a Champ Dirt car and a Silver Crown car? Gary

I think it's just age, sponsorship, and USAC titles. I still call them Champ Cars - always will. Indy Cars, Champ Cars, Sprints, Midgets, and Supermodifieds - what else do you need?

Was just taking my Camera up front for Dave Shleppi to dump the progress pics off and thought I'd shoot a picture of a driving suit we have here on display in a back hallway I walk by EVERYDAY! It's one of those things we take for granted, but every once in a while need to stop, look at smile at it.

    ENJOY.

(We got one of his helmets too!)

Earlier in this thread we tried to figure out the name of a garage in Dayton that worked on race cars. My dad's Trevis car was rebuilt there. During one of the trips to see the progress, Salt Walther was sitting on a work bench inside the garage. I went into another bay to watch the pin striper at work - so I never met him. We never did figure out the name of the garage, but I think there were 2 guys involved and ones name was Harry.

Over the past few years I have run along side friend Kenny Van Blargen and any thing can happen!!! The cage is a bolt on and is painted flat black to not take away from the shape of the roadster. You do what YOU need to do but Kenny's situation was to close fore compfort.

I believe that is one of Salt's hydroplane helmets as opposed to what he used in auto racing. I believe that the orange color was was required at one point in boat racing.

I agree.. Some organizations still require it. I painted a Hydro racers helmet a few years back, and he told me I had to use a certain percent of Orange.. I asked him (Seriously) if I could paint it like a fishing Bobber.. and he got SO MAD he left and never came back!! I still think that's funny and would have my helmet like that if I raced boats!!

That is funny. Hell, that's real funny. Just as long as it didn't become a functional bobber while you were wearing it. Although, I guess it would keep you alive.

Did Smokey Snellbaker die? I didn't hear about it. He's a great guy. What happened? He wasn't that old.
