My Step Dad was the Chief Mech on this car and also Mario's dirt car at the same time, he was also
Joe Leonards Chief Mechanic on his Indy car at the same time, between Al and Mario they won every dirt race for 2 years straight, Joe Leonard was also the USAC national Champ at the same time. Pretty damn good record

That car is beautiful. What is the story on it. What year would something like that have been raced? ...and what part of the country?

I wanna build something close to that.

Ken and his son Larry have been friends of mine my whole life, I have tons of photos he took of my cars but they are way to big to scan, his specialty was black and white photos that he then painted, very unique and totally cool

Hey Roy, Ever heard of a Russ Blevins..? I talked to him on the phone today for an hour. He races a Ranger powered vintage sprint car out of Tampa Fl. He raced all over and around southern Ohio and Ind. Both Sprinters and Jalopy's.. (When his Ranger powered sprinter got outlawed, he put the engine in a 36' Chev coupe and kicked ass!)

Great guy! Sharp as hell... at 82 years old!

    Don't throw shit at me..:D

Not to rub it in.. but our local track, Lawrenceburg averages 40 non wing sprints a week. On a USAC, or special race, its up around 50 to 60! The greatest thing is, that weekly 40 is HEAVY HITTERS! Excluding the leader, the top 5 at the Chili bowl looked like the weekly show here!:p Its a great place to race and/or watch..

Hopefully it still will be.. There completely redoing the place.. Changing it from a 1/4 mile bullring to a 3/8 mile.. THERE WAS NO LOGICAL REASON FOR THIS.. Just dumb asses in charge with money.

Well see... If any of you get out there this sumer, drop me a line.

Here's Dad's. This is what got him started on hot rodding. He told me he got it when he was 14, so that would put this one about 1957.

Ok Mr. Shaw no hints on this one, name the builder/owner and the driver. Who said Gambler invented Downtubes. I will check for your answer when I get home from work.

You say they don't make em like that anymore? Got that right! The GAPCO sprinter, old spring front that Mario used to beat up on the "new" 4 bars of the day.

This isn't a sprinter, not even a dirt car.. But its neat.

Zakira's restored this Novi a few years back and we were lucky enough to do the lettering on it. All the logo's plus the Pure logo's were hand painted, originally and now. Dad and I were brought in to look at and photgraph and make templates off the original lettering that was suprisingly still in tact!
Well , dad being dad.. noticed that the left rear #15 had a brush hair in the "5" Originally.. it had been there since it was first done in 46' He measured and marked where it was, and placed a similar brush hair in the new one.. Zakira's laughed at that! and we've done all there cars ever since.:D

Here is Duke Nalon in it at Goodwood in 98' He was one of the few to survive the rath of these cars.. This paticular car killed 2 drivers.

    Dodgeboy,
yep, those photos were taken at John Hajduk's when I worked there in the early 90's. John probably has a bunch of pictures of Bigelow as Tom drove for him way back when. Kenny Schrader also drove John's midgets before he stepped up to the "big show" in the Winston/Nextel/Sprint (or whatever they are calling them this week) cup cars.
