Why are the chrome cups so spendy?
Did Stewart Warner make a matching tach for the "Police Special" speedos?

Here's one that was a factory option that went where the clock was on 39/40 Packards. Rare as hen's teeth.

How rare could it be :)

I got one at the LB swap meet for $12.50!

BTW if you want to use it they have no counterweight in the needle. You have to add to it or it just swings wildly

Yours makes the 4th one I've seen in 25 years. One was sitting on a shelf in a museum, one is in my dad's car and the other was sitting on a table at the fea market next to the Auburn Kruse Auction back in 2001 for $25.00 (pictured and sitting on my shelf now).

  13. Here's mine, still looking for a sender to mount into the sedan. It is from a dash of an old 32 dragster in the mid-West, though I can't find my pic of the dash.

Here's a pair out of my '32 that came with the car back in '56. I stick them in occasionally for shows but usually run with the new electronic Wings gages so I can tell what's really going on.

Dean Kruse's favorite quote is "Dont' worry... We'll stop you if you bid too much!"

  17. I'm not a collector, I just never get rid of anything. Here's my not so old Sun tach I put in my 55 back in the early 70's......

I picked up this mechanical Jones recently, it has a service date of 1961 on the back of it. One thing I was surprised at is the lens is plastic, I thought it may be an incorrect replacement but it has molded tabs that lock into the case. It is very lightweight as compared to a SW so it may be just to help keep the weight down. I'm hoping to find a parts unit or to have the ring plated to get rid of the brass.

Anyone have a place with they would recommend if it needs calibrated?

Whats the brand of the one at the top left, with the green on it? I have one just like it with no brand name on it.

    Gents,
I have this idea to put an extra large diameter tach and speedo in my next build. I'd guess anything from 6-8" in diameter would do. Ideas?
I suspect I will have to get something vintage and then have them rebuilt, eh, with new electronic guts (like a VDO speedo with trip meter, electronic calibration, etc.) The horror, I know.

Of course I'd also like to get other matching gauges, but I think I could live with a big-ol tach and a matching big-ol speedo and somehow hide or disguise the rest of them if I couldn't find all the others to match.

Any recomendaitons? Smiths? Something from an old British car?
    Thanx, Gary

One of my favorites. Not for everybody (or every car), but cool in it's own way.....the Dixco Illuminator.

I inherited one of those from my Dad, but never knew exactly what it was. Sorry to hear you bought it cheap as I was hoping to make some money....oh well. Mine is missing the rubber piece on the shaft.

Here's one in my collection. Or, is it really in a collection if it's in use?

An old Stewart Warner from the 40's. Probably originally meant for industrial use, but works fine for a flathead.

hmmm... thought I had already replied to this.

Here's mine - it's an old Faria. Hope to put it in my Model A. I emailed Faria, and the guy said it was pre-70.
