Technical Vintage tach or new retro?

Not sure what direction to go. I want to put a tach into my custom but not sure if a vintage one will work with my electronic ignition plus its hard to find a nice vintage unit in working condition. The bosch sun repops look not bad ,at least steel crome cups unlike plastic moon ones. Any thoughts, bad experiences either way. Thanks
