Every time I drive around in just the local area, say within a twenty mile radius, I see all of this Vintage Tin and usable good junk, just sitting around. As a class project :D , I will add to this thread periodically, pics of the goodies. I have even found a Ford Econoline pickup, ala Coupe de Cab.

I know what you mean, the shit is everywhere, and a lot of it is for sale. That's why I just don't understand when people bitch about the cost of old cars, because I'm drowning in old cars the way it is and I keep finding more! Good pics, that Olds looks real decent. Even if it's rotten, it'd be the perfect donor to convert a good four door.

Hey Pigpen, I recognize that car. How are you doing? Folks have been trying to buy that one for years, but no dice. They'll let her rust into the ground, i guess.

That's what I figured. They're probably going to "Fix her up" one of these days. Too bad. I took some more pics today. The Ford Econoline pickup (ala Coupe de Cab) is gone. The new City ordinance is taking it's toll. I had to put a cover on my '53 Chevy so as not to get a ticket. What the city council doesn't realize is that they work for a JUNKY little town. It's been that way for years and it is going to stay that way for years to come, no matter what they do. I'm waiting for a fresh batch of graffiti on their brand new artsy fartsy freeway under passes! You would think that they could spend all of that money on the CRAPPY roads instead. LOL :D

You said it! I'm like a child in a candy store, too bad you cannot take all back home... I'm still doing my best! 3rd container leaving towards Finland...

The Olds sits in a field on FM 369, just north of Hwy. 287, between Wichita Falls and Iowa Park, accross the road from the infamous Allred prison. They stay on lock down almost all of the time and they don't have any air conditioning. It's been running around 105 degrees around here lately. A breeding ground for hate and discontent to be sure! I know one of the nurses that work there. He seems a bit jittery most of the time. :D Hmmm.

Maybe that Olds was left for someone who was planning an excape that never happened!? :)
Or maybe it belongs to someone "inside", who plans to fix it up someday...like after parole? :)

Could that be a '32 Chevy 3W body sitting behind that dumpster? There's a big ol' '37 Lincoln 4 door sitting behind that!

    I'll ask.

It's pretty far gone, though. No floors at all to speak of. You can see the hoses and mechanism for the seat heaters! But it all looks rusted together, like it came off the Titanic...

  20. Hell the place I have been picking cars out of is scrapping stuff faster than I can buy it - in the load that went monday, they tell me there was an assload of three-bolt carburators. Between me and a buddy we've pulled about 6 97's out of there - all the ones I've found were in vans and everything moved on them. A Model A truck motor and trans went Monday, too, looked like it would turn over (head was off)... I just nabbed a pair of Buick aluminum drums.. there is just crap all over, in cars, in trucks, on the ground, etc. -

    I know that one's not for sale - I already asked. :D

The current owner's father bought it new and they went on road trips, etc. across country with it. He said it has lots of good memories, and he really will do something with it. I believe him, he's got a few dozen incredible cars.

He's getting parts for it now, I sold him the back glass out of my wagon for it.

Those mesquites sure do take over in a hurry.
I say take the horse to Beltex and I'll take the Olds:D

    I know where there is a 57 Chevy (yeah I know:rolleyes: )
and a chopped A coupe hop-up from "the olden days".
The old white paint on the A has turned into a very cool rusty/yellow.
Kinda has the tint/shade of old ivory. (brownish/yellowish color)

It's pretty deep in the weeds, so I don't know what kinda engine/susp. it has on it.

I have tried on numerous occasions to try and buy these cars but they are "not for sale".
I guess they have a sentimental value, which I can totally understand.
I wish I still had my Gramps old pickup (sideboards and all).
Many trips out to the ol' farm in that sucker.:)

I know where there is (last time I looked as 2000) but I'm sure its still there
Exit 47 off I-29 in South Dakota
Its a old, old custom . laid there in the grove since I was knee high to a push rod
    1949 Ford, 55 Chevy tailights, 53 Stude front .. painted green/white
many moons ago, it was very nice , won't sell ..for reason unknown
nice fitting tribute , lets let it lay in the weeds till it is total junk

How about a nice '33 Dodge mordor body? I think Speedway carries glass fenders and stuff for these.

I stopped and asked about a few old ones. This guy wanted $2,000 for a rusted out 48 plymouth 2dr with stuck engine. The he says"Well at least it has a title" The floor and trunk floor was gone. Then he wanted 750 for a 37 ford 2dr just a body rusted out flooe with a title, and 7500 for a 48 hudson 4dr with title rusty but salvegable. Then in my fiance's town she said "I know where this old car is, it's been sitting a long time. Like the one my dad wants" I'm thinking yeah right cuase her dad wants a 51 Mercury. We went walking she pointed out to me. My heart started to race and beat so hard. It was 51 merc 2dr and the one front tire was off and on a block. I haven't ask yet. I drove a 59 Caddy 4 dr home once for $300, that was in 1992 when i was 17. I wish i had it now. Knowing about rat rods.

  29. On Monday while visting a friends family farm, I happened upon a '36 ford truck - 3/4 ton Over beers on the ranchers back patio, he says he always thought the dist caps were odd and he recalled how his dad had a local machinist "pour" new bearings in the flathead during the rebuild of the motor and trans. Its complete except for we couldn't find the drivers door and it has a steel gravel box on the back, but the flathead is still there, aircleaner intact and turns over by hand. After staying for dinner and dessert we decided on a price of $200.

Next I'll need to ask him about the cool '58 NAPCO 4x4 stepside GMC parked on the other side of the farm.

They are still out there, I sit back and enjoy the stories while the old guys reminisce. A local rod shop owner is still amazed that I got an older rodder, "who is notorious for never giving up anything" to let me have a key piece from his stash by being patient, polite and not hassling him. He like other older guys do things on their schedule and they aint in a hurry about anything. I dropped by his garage several times when I saw his '40 parked outside, sat around had a beer listened to him complain about how the "fit up" was going on his coupe project. As I figure it, the stories are cool and the guy deserves to not be pestered just cause someone half his age has his underwear all notted up. Yeah it took 8 months for him to find and drag out that piece I needed, but I'm not an impatient punk (anymore).
