Interesting group, but the '63 Chevy and the VW bus are the only two with any real value potential. Little value in the more-door Caddy's beyond serving as parts-cars.
Most of that stuff is junk,I agree she's been watching too much Barrett Backson! Judging from what you can make out in the pics, that bus is what appears to be a '60 or early '61 non-walk through panel that's been cut up for camper windows. I'm not up on IDing the camper stuff (not into that stuff), but if it is original, some of those pieces bring descent money. 100% not a early barndoor. The standard panels are the least valuable of the different configurations the bus came in,although walk through or swivel seat options (that one isn't) makes them more desireable/expensive. Not a goldmine find, but certainly desireable to the right person. There is what is called a "Mcode" plate on the right bulk head behind the front seat back that shows the year add all the options the bus came with. People are restoring or driving some ROUGH busses though, particularly the more valuable 21/23w and pickup versions. And that one certainly looks rough!
but is it wort to spend more to save some thing that you could buy cheaper finished? ....a rusted out 63 belair sedan and a vw bus not on top of my list only thing there is a 53-54 belair roof
Same thing happened to someone I knew. My friend's wife's dad died, left behind his 11-second 67 Camaro. The wife kept turning down offers of 10k, 15k, said she wouldn't sell for any less than 25k. That is, until she couldn't pay for shit, the bills kept piling up, the house went into foreclosure, and she unloaded it quick for 5k to someone she worked with. This lady will sit on this heap of parts cars until she croaks, and the scrapyard will pay her heirs pennies and crush everything.
The early busses as that is will not have an m-code plate until late 1962. That bus is '59 to mid year '62. This is based on the recesses for the rear hatch handle and the cargo door handle. These features started in '59 the tail light holes under those lights will be for the round dollar tails used until '62, after that point they moved to the larger oval/rectangular lights as a '63 only bus. The bus should also have sharp cornered rectangular bumper holes in the front lower valance showing a factory slash bumper but I cant confirm this from the pictures. The bus also has the 59-62 tall mount ice-pick door handles. As can be seen on the front doors in the pictures. For saveable or not option I have seen much worse busses than that saved. But I cannot see the chassis members. It looks however that there are a tonne of useable parts on it. Parts like seat, steering wheel, steering box, nose emblem, door handles, speedo, front beam, transaxle and reduction boxes, etc. Brant.
"the right money" might be $500 apiece, it never hurts to ask. I've been surprised myself quite a few times when people start talking like they're going to want a lot, and then they throw out a reasonable number. I agree that the bus may be the only one worth restoring (depending on condition) but there's still a ton of re-salable parts on those cars and trucks and a profit could be made if you paid the right price and spent a little time on them. If I had a 63-64 Impala or Belair 4 door sedan, I'd love to get that parts car just for the pieces to convert to a 2 door. The rest of the car could be parts only at that point. The wagon is a 1964ish Dart or Valiant, can't quite get a good look at it.
he said "I guess she'll know when she hears them"...lol well, here they are anyway , enjoy!![/QUOTE] ...That's NUMER of dollars she'll be willing to PAY someone TO take them, right...?
