Had an excellent time at the show. Got to see alot of very sharp cars. The black Model A Ford coupe, with an early Caddy V8, really stood out. The Dusk Pearl 57 Chevy wagon was a real eye popper, too.

The movies at the drive in were cool, also. This was my first time at a drive in theater since about 1970, or so, when I saw "The Computer That Wore Tennis Shoes". Yeah...I was 7 years old at the time.

Hopefully, the drive in will be a part of Torque Fest 2012.

Here's a link to my Gallery of the show. I took over 2100 photos including the action on the track. I've only made it through the ones from Friday so far, they are being uploaded now. Tomorrow I'll start a thread and feature some of the shots.

The cost to close down the drive in was WAAAAAAY to much - we had 27 cars there on Friday night and only about 60-70 on Saturday night.
I really did not think this would happen - I thought just the opposite.....
so unfortunately those that went this year will be the ones that can say - I went when they showed American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop.
I asked some of the guys why no one showed up on Sat. night - and they replied - "you wore them out during the day man....they are all back at the hotel trying to recover so they can drive home tomorrow"
    understood.
If we are able to have the show out there again - if the show can grow - perhaps we can do it again in a few years

We have the same problem getting people to the post-show party at the Pileup. Everyone is too tired to go out, but not too tired to stay up until 4am drinking in the parking lot. :D There's a lot to do in a single day

Thanks John! I do my best to capture the feel of each show, people need to know what they are missing so they can make plans to attend the next year. You did a great job putting on a great show, thanks to all of the volunteers that helped make the show run well too!

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=586604 there's where my coverage will be posted.

There are over 1,000 photos of the show in my galley, a bit overwhelming to some, so a 200 photo best of will be posted tonight on my facebook page in my sig below. The on track action was soooo much fun. I really enjoyed the shots of you driving Jeff's car myself!

See you at a show folks,

    Travis

Great collection of photos, Travis! I really dig your work! I appreciate all the time you put into your photos, the distance you drive and obviously the money spent to get to the show. Thanks for stopping by my booth to visit, man! I am already looking forward to next year's show!

Thanks Todd, I know folks who are vendors usually miss the shows that they are working, I'm glad I could share some of the flavor of VTF with you and everyone else. Hopefully I'll see ya somewhere else down the road this year.

Thank you! Thank You! Thank you! The dirt track provides some killer photo opps huh? :)

Everyone tell your friends, Vintage Torque Fest is a show that you do not want to miss!

I'd been over there working in Chicago for a couple of weeks, so stayed on another week just to go to the show: it was my first US show and I had a great time. Bummer that I had to stay up in Dubuque on Friday night, but at least I was up bright and early Saturday morning for another day of action. After two weeks of sampling almost every type of weather, it was nice to be able to wander around the fairgrounds jacketless a lot of the time. Met some great folks (and was at the meet-and-greet just after the group photo :)), saw some top cars and bikes, and to top it all, a 90-minute set from Wayne Hancock!

Thanks to everyone who helped put the show on.

Rem - Thanks to you for missing out on the royal wedding, for our little shindig out in the middle of nowhere! (actually only 2.5 hours from Ohare)

We appreciate it and hope that you will spread the word across the pond that the middle of America has a pretty cool hot rod scene as well as So Cal, TX, etc

No problems on missing the wedding! It was well worth it.

It did take me 3 hours to get there from by O'Hare, but I was ambling a bit, making the most of the scenery (especially once I got out of the flatlands, and then over the Mississipi into Iowa :)). If I had been better prepared I might have taken an extra day or two and had a look around the area.

Hey Rem-Glad you enjoyed the event and the ever changing terrain here. So next time you come to the USA you will have to add quite a bit of time to your schedule to take more of it in. Glad to meet you at the Meet-n-Greet!

Hi Phil, it was nice to meet you and Marty too. By the way I wasn't knocking the flat bits - my folks are from Norfolk and that's flat farming country too! Hills are a treat for me wherever I am. You back in Fla. now?

  27. Nope, Up north is the place to be in the summer. This is where all the cool hot rod stuff is. If you think Illinois is flatland, you should see Floraduh:eek:

I intentinally left the Cheaters off of the list cause you guys still owe me a kiss on the lips from each member - I am hurt by your lack of pay off....there are come ons and then you just tease and wind me up.....
then....NOTHING...........I am hurt I tell ya.

CHEATERS WERE NOT JUST AT THE SHOW.....they were night time security!!!!
