Gday guys Anyone ever had the idea of holding a HAMB car show online? Same as the real deal with awards etc? Even trailer queens could enter without the stigma! Best new rod/kustom, best photoshopped fantasy rod, even best art, pinstriping, tech - possibilities are endless. Steve
I am not for having any type of competition show. I think we are all winners. Now if you want to have a separate area for members cars divided up into styles. I would go for that.
Yeah maybe "best"is not what Im after, more like most popular or viewer favourite? Not looking to introduce anything divisive at all. Steve
There has been a bunch of 'lets see your ride" posts in the past. If you want to see what everyone is driving use the search area.
I'm not for having any kind of competion either, theres really no need and as far as it goes there's a post about once or twice a week with someone requesting pics of a specific kind of ride so check the arcives and you can see just about every ones ride. Same thing with art or tech. Not a bad idea just not one I think could work in the here and now.
There are a couple of car sites out there that follow the "hotornot.com" formula. Viewers post their car, then other viewers can rate it from 1 to 10 and as time goes on it adds up the votes and gives the car an overall rating. Every month whoever has the highest score gets some sort of spiff, like being in a special gallery with a bit of text describing the car and the owner. If a person did one that was just for classics, customs, hot rods, etc.. it could be a lot of fun as long as people didn't take it too seriously.
I'll enter mine in the "rusty four door non-running not cool grocery getter" category. Like we need another fucking popularity contest buddy.
I put up a post at the end of last year that was supposed to do exactly what you've described. It was a post that listed all the cars completed in the year 2003 on the HAMB and at the end, we were to vote on the best or our most favorite. IT WAS A DISMAL FAILURE Thank god. Everyone here doesn't want voting or bullshit like that. COOL! I am going to put the post back up at the end of this year though. It will be titled "HAMB cars FINISHED in 2004" No voting, just a retrospective of all the projects that got acuired and put on the road in 2004. I think that last year it was fun to see who got what finished and this year I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I'll have my '58 on there. Watch for it at the end of December....
I'd like to see a section of HAMBer's cars, broken down into different catagories, but no competition.
