Thanks. Ill happily take all the abuse for this one. This jewel was built by Les Cove in Hillside New Jersey. Les also built the Fabian Continental as well as Manny Bastios chopped and sectioned 51 four door merc hardtop . EAST COAST RULES!! I better shut off my computer now!! Seriously ,If someone cloned this car with a shitload of refinements ,it would be a hitter!
Slag logged in when I wasnt looking.I should have let him take the shitstorm Im gonna get over this one!!
Rikster has started a great thread. He picked some early cars for the top 100 of all time. Every one is a beauty and a trend setter. I have decided to make my picks from cars built since the 1980s custom car revival. I picked my favorites on the basis of great looks and innovative design. I like big, elegant cars and came up with these four almost without thinking. I loved them when I first saw them, and still do. I wish I owned each one! The first is the great Richard Ratty 1946 Packard Clipper built by Doug Thompson. Classic coach-built style that is all custom and all Packard: smooth, dark maroon paint, cutaway door tops, and chopped top highlighted by the split rear window and thin deco fins. Maybe my favorite custom of all time. The second is the 1958 Chrysler New Yorker by Gene Winfield who built it in 1979 for Richard Zocchi. Later owned by John DAgostino, and Harry Craycroft, it was called Morning Sunrise for its orangey blended paint job. The headlight pods were from a 72 Olds and the rear window of the chopped roof was from a 70 Challenger. The stop-em-in their tracks bullet grille is another Winfield signature. My next pick is the John DAgostino 1956 Lincoln Premier, the Royal Empress, Currently owned by Bill Abate. Mechanical and chassis work was by Bill and Tom Frasier, body work by Bill Reasoner, and blended paint by Gene Winfield. Low, sleek, and elegant, his choice of the Lincoln Premier was inspired. Lastly the knockout 63 Buick Riviera of Jimmy Vaughn. Built by Gary Howard, she is really worked at every corner, though most of the changes are subtle. The chop is just right and the fenders are extended around the grille shell containing a 59 Caddy grille and Imperial headlight buckets. Skylark wires really set off the lime-gold pearl paint. OOOOH, Baby! Dave
a couple that i'd include are the gorgeous 1951 ford convertible originally owned by jim karchner of Ct. & now owned by my friend, ray soff(the pic does not do it justice, but its the only one i have)....and probably a controversal car for this thread, the lenny legere's 51 ford, i love its early 60's radical cartoonish appearance.....
Damn Politz,All these guys are probably questioning my sanity for the Antonelli car and you drop the Legere car on them??? Talk about going for the jugular! East cost rules!!! Lets see some A&A Auto Body
Kartsa's Buick is my favorite kustom.....of all time? Some day I'm going to build one out of an Oldsmobile...
Does anyone have a photo of Buster Litton's 49 Ford? Because that would be my contribution to this fine group of cars.
here are a couple more that really turn my crank....Starbirds Fantabula, and Cushenbury's Limelighter, two of my all-time favorite builders....
Okay, the Buster Litton Ford is indeed a great looking car and here's a profile shot.I really like this style of sidetrim on Shoebox Fords. This is ABSOLUTELY my favorite Shoebox Ford ever !!! I like the car so much.It doesn't get any better and I wouldn't change a thing. As some of you may know,I search for more info regarding this Ford in another topic.I know for sure the car will be in Paso, end of May,and if any Hamber should see it,PLEASE make as many pics as you can.
My favorite was that Buick built by I think Don Auten Jr out of Michigan in the early 90's. Anybody got a pick of that one?
Theres a pic of Autens Buick on a post bt Peter Pan called Merc Madness and.....You can find it if you look through my back posts. The dude who posted it mistakenly said it was a Kramer car.
