Im heading to Detroit this winter for a vacation, (some of us in Arizona need to dust our coats off now and then) and am seeking advice for some places to go. I'll hit the HF museum, Edsel ford estate, rouge tour, but need to balance that with some HAMB type places/shops as well. Thanks guys

What time of year? I would go check out the Highland Park Plant, the Ford Piquette Plant, go look,at the ruins of the Packard Plant, no far from that is the Dodge Brothers first Machine shop and n Hamtramack, Hit the Hudson museum in Ypsi. PM me I'll give ya some good spots
. In the early 30's, Edsel Ford commissioned Diego Rivera to paint a series of pictures depicting Detroit Industry and in particular, The Rouge. Housed at the Detroit Institute of Art (address at bottom/thread), are a total of 32 paintings - many of them are building/wall size.... ================================================ Of particular interest is a ~more or less~ conglomeration of the foundry - from iron ore to machined Flathead V8... Although not technically correct, the image shows early 21 stud Flathead V8's progressing down the line. ..I had to cut these images into sections to fit the HAMB, This is a mural and these images would be a continuous panorama from left to right.. ============================================= Click images for full size/view.. In the background can be seen several of the mills that bored/honed 48 holes in stepped operation -In this mammoth painting, the boring and threading machines are depicted in the background while a worker rotates the block in order to bore/hone/tap another one of it's 8 Faces.
