It's about 45 min. south of Wilmington, but there's the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover AFB.

Simeone is definitely worth seeing if you can get over there. Lots of good stuff to see.

  6. The Simeone absolutely! And, like BeatnikPirate said, the city itself is great to see- Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, etc.

90 minutes out of the city and you're in Lancaster- Amish country (great food), the PRR Museum, the Strasburg Railway (oldest running steam railway), the Toy Train Museum, and more.

    The Mutter Museum.

Also Phila Art Museum, The Franklin Ins***ute, and The Barnes Foundation are good.

Skidmarks,I agree with you about Wilmington!Have done the Dover Air Mueseum(great)(5 times).I'm gonna go to see Joe Timney at his Delaware Ch***is Shop this afternoon.Really good guy and fantastic shop. He's about 20-25 miles south of Wilmington off of Rt13.
Then tomorrow, the Simeon? Foundation sounds like a neat place to get lost in for awhile.Plus I'll be that much closer to a Jimmys or Geno's cheesesteak in Philly!!Thanks for all the idea's guys,I appreciate your time. Rich:D

    from nowhere...

    Mutter is great!
New Hope P.A. has some nice scenery, and food and drinks, but pricey. I love the area around the river though...it's nice driving.
Old city is o.k., again, good food and drink.
Art museum, Franklin Ins***ute...also an o.k. distraction. It was cool when Body worlds was there. That's gone now...
Bad time of year for any hot rod related stuff...
The Zoo is cool, too...not sure in winter, though.
Strasburg Railroad is nice, and the museum is great.
New Hope has a Steam train, too, and does short trips hourly. I haven't taken the Strasburg train in a while, because it's farther from us than New Hope, but, I remember it as being a longer trip.
    Penn's landing has a couple old military ships ( one is a sub, it's bad-***...pre-nuke! )
