Anyway... back to our program. Do the Peckats visor have the centre support which attaches to the screen dividing strip? I find that I have to keep under 300 MPH to stop the centre of the visor from bouncing up and down, if it's the one without the support. Split screens look better with a Fulton or centre support type. And yes, if anyone cares, most of my cars have visors, because I am an old grey bearded man and I smell of mothballs and shout at clouds.
Listed as featured in this publication from 1951 Along with this beauty and this stunner These customs shared book space with cars built by Barris. Westergard and Lopez to mention a few. According to the website. I haven’t purchased the book ….yet
Seems to be a thing on Model As many of these I would consider a traditional hot rod https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/model-a-visors-lets-see-em.303662/page-2 Dan
Had to do a search on the Fulton I bought to figure out the mounting. I had bought a generic reproduction visor with a bunch of parts I picked up. Had aerocoupe wrote on it. I’ve got a gm truck. So the aftermarket car one didn’t fit the truck roof. The angle was off. So while looking up info you stumble across interesting things. Like this ad looked up mounting for a peckat and found this Shows a center mount as does this hamb pic for one a stainless visor. There’s a few different styles. A Pecker patent popped up patent list it as this Interesting. Appears to be patented as a sun shield well I be
The advantages of the Fulton are the adjustability built in, and the availability of replacement parts. The Peckat doesn't have much adjustment and stuff isn't reproduced for them, unless someone started recently that I'm not aware of. Styling is subjective, but I think the Peckat sells for more based on its rarity, kinda like a rare bit of flathead speed equipment might bring more even if it doesn't perform better than a new, common one. Especially now that the Fulton is reproduced. Ive heard nothing but bad reviews on the repop Fulton knockoff, I'd avoid those. Also, any of the aluminum visors do not hold up well to speeds over 60 or 70, especially with cross traffic.
Fellows i believe the point has been made about visors and Anthony Myrick you are the man with the info. You have my vote for alot of info shared. Thanks to all Fulton seems to have the better adjustments . Now guys quit all that whining about visors everyone has a opinion get whats best for your rigs.
I would rather see a guy build a car with a visor than a guy sitting at his computer bashing them while talking about all the stuff he’s going to do one day.
X2 on hearing aftermarket woes. I got an aftermarket generic visor in a pile of parts (from chevies of the 40s). Mounting was absolute junk. We modified it it to go on my step van and are building new mounting hardware. Did Fulton make non aluminum visors? Ive only seen aluminum ones. Mine is. I don’t plant to drive over 70 much though
A '39 my father-in-law took in trade back in the early '50s, illustrates just how well a visor improves the appearance of an otherwise unattractive old Ford coupe.
chicks dig em Those side visors, mmmmmmmmm. spots and looks like full skirts. Clean custom Dude is living the dream. Before the magazines told us what to like. just drop the rear Has to be the widest visor I ever seen. Looks like the side ones as well. Got spots and skirts. The early customs are the best.
