Visor with 1 piece windshield ????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chopped51, Feb 14, 2011.

  1. I'm putting a one piece windshield in my 49 Silver Streak / Fleetline. I would like to put the visor back on. But without the suport of the centre mount would it work? Anyone tried it?
I know it will work if I don't drive it but my fear is getting on the hiway and it coming off like a big potato chip!

You need to re-fab the center bracket so it goes from the center of the visor to the top of the roof or drip rail to attach instead of the center windshield divider. They made visors for cars with one piece windshields but they still had a center bracket, they just went to the roof instead of the divider bar.

You definitely need that center support on there, I've heard of Fultons coming apart at high speeds even with all the brackets on, they're not made for 75mph with a strong gust from a semi truck in the other lane.

I can testify that the fabbed bracket on the one on my 54 Chevy broke and it was not fun. Something way more substantial will have to be dreamed up.

  6. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm thinking I'll use the visor for wall art :)
