I've decided nothing will stop me from going to this one. Along with a few friends. I've never been west of El Paso, so Vegas will be an adventure. I'm wondering how hard it is to find a place to stay. Where is recommended? What's it normally cost? How far in advance should I reserve? My friend Spider knows some folks out that way that might lend us a place to stay, but I'm just wanting to cover all options. Anyone else from Texas planning on driving out?
The Gold Coast where VLV is held is sold out completley, as it is every year. The Orleans is the sister hotel for the show, they run 24 hr shuttles back & forth between the two. As its in Las Vegas, there shouldn't be a problem getting a room, just book in advance somewhere that fits your budget. Details & recommendations at www.vivalasvegas.net Dave
Check www.vivalasvegas.net They have deals at some of the hotels local to the Gold Coast. Last time we were there, in '03, we stayed well down the strip and got a cab there around midday and a cab back in the early hours of the morning everyday. Nowhere is more than a few minutes away.
to park in the parkinglot (at the show) do you have to stay at the GoldRush. I would ***ume No but thought I would ask.
I'm driving out next year. Maybe we can travel together. I'm sending the Mrs and the kid out by air though.
jeremy, We always stay down town at the Gold Spiike. Its about 30 bucks a night. It about 10 minutesfrom the Gold Coast. It aint no harrahs but the rooms are nice enough. Besides you will only be there around 4 hrs per day. Ed
Johnny...I mention you and what? I get kicked out?! haha Hopefully the Ranchero will be ready for the trip by late March, we'll see. Ed, sounds like a plan. and I'll see ya on the 6th.
The Rio is very nice & offers VLV discounts. You can request a room overlooking the Gold Coast (it's right across the street) and see the car show from your window. I have a sneaking su****ion that the reason my husband likes to stay there is because of the thong-clad ****tail waitresses though. haha
I'm with Samantha (not literally, I don't want to fight her old man or anything). I'll be across the street from Rio at the Palms (my 2nd home). Call me a snob, but I'd rather eat a turd than stay at the Gold Coast. What is the date of the show anyway? I'm in Vegas on the company almost every month & somehow I've never made it to the show (because I'm LAME!!!)
How much cash should I bring? I mean, are there lots of vendors, etc.? This is probably a really stupid question but I can't wait for the snappy answers

And yes, there are lots of vendors there (if that's what you want to call them).
There are lots of cool vendors. Bring as much as you can spend, you will spend it. There are are vendors inside, there are vendors at the car show. Hell I probably spent $200 on t-shirts.....
[ QUOTE ] thong clad waitress', thats enough reason to go to vegas.. [/ QUOTE ] I never saw those pix-WTF?
the car show's always amazing and seems to get bigger every year. anyhow, some of my out of state buddies are meeting up here in tulsa to drive out as a group (don't know how many cars that involves yet as some of the guys are flying here since its apparently cheaper to fly here than vegas) but anyone that wants to caravan with us, feel free to pm me about details. we figure the best way to have multiple old heaps break down is if we're all together. plus we're gonna try and arrange rooms together in the next month so that's cheaper too. p.s. i know i haven't done an intro yet, so please don't point that out...i'll do it as soon as i have pics of my my thunderchicken loaded, promise.
