hello everyone, for those that are going to attend the VLV car show i just thought i'd fill you in with all of the information and updates.

as of this week there are close to 300 cars (all wristband regsistrants) that are pre registered for the car show. there is also a dozen motorcycles pre registered.

i know i touched on this before but again, here are the basic rules.

car show registration will open up to everyone (even those that choose not to partake in the indoor activities) in a week or two.

registration is easily done at www.vivalasvegas.net simply go to the car show section and click on "car show registration" if it asks you to fill in a "log on name" simply put anything and it will allow access.
you must fill in your name, license number, the type of car/bike ,(including the year of it) , and a couple of other things. pretty simple.

all cars must be pre 1963. this means 1962 and older (i know, but you'd be surprised).

all motorcycles must be pre 1963 . (space is very limited)

admission is $20.00 per car without wristband . with wristband it is free.

with wristband you have access to the car show all weekend.

without wristband you only have access saturday (day of the show) from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

NO glass bottles allowed in show area. guys, dont even try and bring them in. it aint worth it. plastic cups are better and it will make everyone feel safer.

anyone caught doing burn outs, doughnuts, throwing objects (including glass bottles) will be removed from the show.

    NO dogs.

like every year beer, soda's,water, hot dogs, and chips will be sold outside.

car show will no longer be on the top parking lot.
instead it will be at ground level next to the goldcoast . this is where RV's usually park.

*three $500.00 cash prizes will be given out by the gold coast*

*trophies will be given out by the shifters*

there will be many vendors, many special displays, and special guests.

*live dj's spinnin records all day*

for those who enjoy real music here are just a few of the many bands performing inside.

    LEW WILLIAMS
    SONNY BURGESS
    RUTH BROWN
    THE CLEFTONES
AN ALL STAR DOO WOP LEGENDS SHOW
    MARTI BROM
    WILDFIRE WILLIE & THE RAMBLERS
    EXTRAORDINAIRES
    REDONDO'S

    * one last thing. this isnt just a primered car show! we welcome painted cars as long as they are traditional hot rods, customs, and classics.

*no fiberglass cars, low riders, muscle cars, tubbed cars, high tech street rods, billet alluminum, cars on "dubs",etc will be allowed inside the show area. no exceptions.

    thanks

    Hey Axle,
Thanks for the update! When you say wristband holders can access the car show all weekend does this mean we can all have a beer together and hang out at our rides or just "to and from" the cars to get things. Also, what time will they be locking the gates preventing access? Thanks in advance, I'll pass along the info to the rest of our club.

it means that if you have a wrsitband you are welcome to come and go day or night and yes, it means you can enjoy the refreshments anytime ....as long as they arent from a bottle.

there will only be one way in and one way out of the car show area. if you have a wristband and you are regsistered you can have access any time as there will be security, hired help, the shifters, tom branch, or fabian valdez at the gates 24/7 .

Thats what I'm reading. Plus from the way it sounds I have to have a car registered in the show to be in there other than saturday, so my buddies whose cars won't be ready for the show won't even be able to hang out at the show with me until saturday. I think I'm gonna opt out on this one.

  10. Hey Axle I went to the web site for Viva and it says that any spaces left after March 12 we can register for the car show only. Are you saying now that we can reigster in the middle of Feburary? If so great I am there again. Last year I drove my coupe all the way there and had a blast at the car show and want todo it again. Any Help I can offer let me know and I will be there.

    a little side note:

for those of you who care about traditional music as much as traditional rods & customs......music like rocknroll, rockabilly, doo wop, western swing, rhythm & blues, etc.

    there are 43 bands performing.

and there are 14 dj's playing records.

thats 57 live entertainment acts all weekend.

that comes out to $1.26 per performance.

not trying to convince anyone. just breaking it all down for ya.

  14. If the show is Sat. only for some of us, where do we park on Friday and Sunday if we wanna make a weekend out of this long drive? Last year was my first time. I dug driving up on Friday afternoon watching the cars casually roll in, settling in, and hangin' out without the madness of Saturday, then the cool madness of Saturday, and leaving sometime Sunday. Am i missing something, or does the new deal need a little fine tuning?

I understand peoples frustration but the car show goes hand in hand with
all the other events at the Gold Coast that weekend. Last years BS got out of control. It actually made some of it less fun for some of us who go for the whole weekend. I think Axle is doing a great job bringing it under control and I applaud his changes (some of them I don't think he had any choice over) and will be there to support the event yet again. If you don't like the changes it is simple, stay home.....

once your car is in the show area starting saturday thats fine. you can leave it there until sunday or even monday when you leave. if you dont have a wristband you cant hang out on the parking lot after 4:00 p.m. saturday.

  18. What he said.....last year was crazy when it started to get dark....there were people throwing beer bottles at passing cars on the street from the top of the parking lot.....I'm surprised they even allowed the show this year....

Well done Axle & your fellow shifters, we will be there all weekend....digging the music as well as the cars.

    :D

  19. Any "staging" area for friday arrivals? It's nice to get in town on Friday and relax before the big day. Instead of driving 5 hours and jumping right in on Saturday.

Groucho, we got there Friday morning last year and they allowed us to park the cars in the secure show area, they were pretty cool about it. We will be driving up three cars this year.

Im arriving on Wednesday so for me (and everyone else) I guess this means I must just park in general parking till Friday sometime???...Not only am I going to Viva for the cars I am also going for the music, which starts on THURSDAY. So, if the car show is as much a part of the event as the music, why isn't the car show area going to be open on Thursday?????????????? You should at least allow entrance anytime after the wristbands are given out on Thursday morning.

  22. I think the changes are for the better, great job Axle my wife and I are excited for a vacation and sunshine. see you there.

WELL ALRIGHT!! We just booked, its a done deal now Vegas here we come again.
