thanks for the update Axle. we will be there in force again this year. half of our club is rolling in the sunday before the show, the other half is rolling in on friday. hey HOTROD RON care to join the caravan????...lol so Axle does this mean that someone is actually going to be making sure that the street rods and lowriders are gonna stay out?... this past year i was starting to wonder if i fell off the top level and into a lowrider magazine sanctioned event!...lol hahahahah.....jus kiddin! good times see ya there fellas!
GEEEZZUZZZ!!! This shit AGAIN? Why the FUCK would you go to VLV if you "Don't give a shit about the music"???!!!!! Some people are just too stupid to see the point until it imbeds itself deep between their eyes... I'm sure there are LOTS of parking lots you guys could PARK in and listen to NO MUSIC between here and Vegas. Maybe you could even SCORE and find a grocery store that pipes MUZAC into their lot... Hey AXLE! Next year I think the "VIVA LAS VEGAS Car Show" should be at a STUCKEYS in NEEDLES in FEBUARY, and you should play nothing but GANGSTA RAP. You should open the gates on TUESDAY and let people PARK there untill MAY. I also think it should be open to ONLY PRE-2002 OLD SKOOL RODZZZ!!! That way all the HOMIES can come and HANG OUT!
You ask, why go to VLV if you don't go for the music? Well, i'll give "MY" answer. It's not my kind of music. So why spend big bucks on something i don't enjoy? Make sense? I went last year for the first time and dug the cars, the people, and the atmosphere of it all. Can you tell me i shouldn't go? For what it's worth? I think it's Gangsta CRAP! Not Rap. I kinda dig 60s Oldies/Motown shit.
Dude the POINT is that VLV is FIRST and FOREMOST a MUSIC Festival... The Car Show is just something Axle started to make it a little more fun. If you don't like the MUSIC, you S-H-O-U-L-D-N-'-T go to VLV... PERIOD. Like you said; "Why waste your money?" It'd be EXACTLY like asking for a cheaper ticket to WOODSTOCK because all you wanted to see were the PORTAPOTTYs...
I've been thinking about going for a few years now. I don't really care about the music either. Thanks for the heads-up, man. I think I'll save my gas money for a show that's about cars. Like the man said, why waste your money.
DAMN! I just bought that car off Craigslist! I even paid extra for the fake bullet holes and Social D sticker
i see points on both sides but in the end, its both a 50's rocknroll weekender with an amzing car show added and something thats grown to an amazing size.it is now the largest most hard core nostalgic event in the U.S. ! for those that still havent attended people drive hot rods, customs,& classics from as far away as alberta canada, boston, florida,up state washington, and all over the mid west. shit, we even had a guy ship his 57 olds from hawaii. what started as a car show with 40 cars and my pop spinnin 45 records out of a little amp,4 vendors, and a small beer & hot dog stand, has now turned in to a major car show that had well over 750 cars and 10,000 people in attendance last year. it couldn't be done without the shifters and the gold coast hotel/casino. people say that because of a few new rules,a small admission fee,and a parking relocation its not going to be the same. thats right it wont be the same. it will be much better and by the number of people that are pre registering, you can bet the attendance will be as good as last year!
you know what kilroy, i've got lip from you before. your an asshole. some folks just want to go to the "CAR SHOW" i didnt go to viva before the car show. i go now because of "the car show." i dont think anyone was complaining that there was going to be music there. i think everyone knows changes had to be made because of the dumbass' that have been causing problems. however, i dont like the fact that tom "meadors" felt there were too many car people showing up and he wanted his cut. axle and the boys do a great job on this show every year, and it is one of my favorites, but i dont want to be forced into spending $72.50 to watch music. i do however understand this is one of the changes that was probably forced on the car show.
who cares???? pay for the braclet's so early that you forget about the 72 bucks by the time you go to the show. its a great scene inside and out. i prefer the show, but like last year my buddies band played (the Palidans) so i went checked out the music scene. lets not forget the venders inside and all the xtras.... point is the show is great, Axle and the shifters do a great job. when people start "crying" and whining" about this or that that when it should hit you,....KEEP YOUR BITCH ASS AT HOME. go to roundup instead!...lol
I agree. however, are you coming up for a new term for 'ratrod' when you say portapotty? some senstive types might not like that either.. lol
i'm still a little un-clear. if i dont buy a wrist band(i'm only 20) i can register for the car show and park in the "show lot" from thursday till monday?? i can only hang out there on saturday though, right? second question.... i have a roadster that i'll be towing with my 56 plymouth, so can i park both cars in the show area or just one? or do i have to pay another 20$ for a second car? or is it one car per person? now before you ask why the hell i'm going when i cant get a ticket because i'm underage, its because my girl is going with a bunch of our friends and they all want me to go along and bring my roadster. so please dont rip me a new ass hole. i'm just a stupid newbe.....
if you dont purchase a wristband you cant get in to the show area until saturday. cost is $20.00 per car. that includes one driver per car.
Ok I have a question Im already registered for my 50 club coupe but my question is I was going to tow my 62 Bsa bobber in a vintage murdercycle trailer do I have to pay to get the trailer and the bike in as well?? Thanks, Rich
Even though they put all these new rules in, VLV is still worth it whether you go for the cars, music, or girls.
okay, its clear now. thanks axle. stupid question time.... is there an under 21 wrist band i could get? damn why couldnt my parents hump a year earlyer....
Hey Axle, Any possibilty of saying fuck you to the Gold Coast/Tom Igram and throwing a kick ass car show with bands on the same date? Then they can have their rockabilly band show and the car people can do their thing. I bet some other Vegas hotel venues would jump all over it! We could call it the anti-... Just a very evil thought from a semi-evil guy We'll see you there anyways.
I know i won't be missed, but i kinda want to be heard. It's a pretty long drive, but it was cool hangin' out the latter part of Friday, all day Saturday, and part Sunday. To just go for Saturday, i think for the content of cars and the long drive, i'll probably PASS and just keep the good memory from last year.
This has become one of my favorite posts. Very entertaining. PS- too bad someone didn't have last years yahoos FOLLOW their beer bottles off the roof.
I just reread my post... It was SO 2002 HAMB... I don't know where I got the energy. I'm going to delete it out of sheer exhaustion. I will add that I DO like Mangos... But you should NEVER get off the boat!
i had planned on going out to the show, but as I sold my car and traveling is out i am going to miss it. I really look forward to reading about the show and how it went. I hope all goes well. now if i can make it down to one of the monthly riverside shows i will be happy as a hog in shit.
but seriously, is there a way to get a wrist band not being 21 to hang out at the car show?? i dont want to spend thursday till saturday in the holtel room then get one day to play... and i dont have a choise about going.. i'm the taxi to vegas...
Dave S, Hemi is right "fake ID" is the ticket and there will be a bunch of delinquents from the Springs at VLV. ZMAN, you and I got to meet, you're my kind of guy ! Amen to your comments. Johnnie.
Skip the fake ID unless it's perfecto. In teh past when you go get the wrist band at the check in tables, they run the ID through a magnetic reader to make sure you're legit. If you get past them but get caught by the casino, I'd bet the Nevada Law would come down pretty tough. VLV is a great time but I don't think the possibilty of spending time in the klink justifies it. My worthless $.02
i can appreciate your idea's as well as comments but for me, i am as knee deep in to rockabilly music as i am in to cars. i know thats not the case with a lot of people. many are either in to traditional cars or traditional music. i like both..and collect both....but again, thats just me,i'm weird that way. as for the age / wristband thing. car show is ALL AGES. anything inside the hotel/casino is 21 & over...and no, there isn't an under 21 wristband.
yeah. i'm not sure i'd want to risk it with a fake id. i'd rather sit in a hotel room than in a holding cell with some guy eyin' me. haha. so i can hang out with people in the carshow the whole time( friday, saturday, sunday), untill certain hours, and i can have my car there on saturday only? sorry its taking me so long to figure this out. its hard for me to grasp. too many exhaust fumes i guess......
Grsmnky....you weren't bustin on the Round Up ...were you?? I've wanted to go to Vegas for years but never could. This year we're makin the trip west but chose the Round Up. I like the music but I'm more of a car guy and the Round Up just sounds like it's more about the cars. From what I've heard Vegas is more of a scenester thing now. Clark
