Coming from a small town, I think what made the show such a relief to me was what it was missing.......khaki shorts, braided belts, easter egg paint jobs, Do Not Touch signs, PT Cruisers, and car owners constantly wiping dust off of their cars.

I live by something my mama told me once:"If you ain't got something nice to say,go ahead and say it,but don't be surprised if one day someone knocks the shit outta you".I agree with her,I try to think positive,not concern myself with the way people look,unless it's totally inappropriate,like a chick walking around a place full of kids with a miniskirt and no underwear or tits falling out all over the place or people that know dam well their damn clothes are too small for them and it's in poor taste.Hell,I'd love to hear what you'd say about me if you knew what I used to look like or the way i even look like know with tattoos from my neck to my feet wearing cuffed up jeans and t-shirts with grease in my hair?Life's too short to concern yourself with the way others dress.They aren't hurting you,hell,you weren't even at the show,were you?It's the people that constantly bitch about inconsequential shit like fashion or someone's looks that bring shows down.Instead of bitching,why not spend that time doing something constructive?Just my $.02.

Thanks for posting photos of traditional "Hot Rods." I'd really like to check this show out some day, but the earlier post made it look like Rat turd - O - Rama. Hopefully some more posters will set me straight.

Seriously, do you believe he costumed himself like that to avoid commentary? He obviously spent considerable time to get reactions like Muttley's. Just tell your pal to look at this thread. It would be such a shame to spend all that money on hairspray and weird clothes and deprive him of comments like that. I don't really see the connection between rockabilly, hot rods and his get up.

And, dig this: I like Viva and would go again. I see your pal and he sees me. I bet he looks at my Hawaiian shirt, comfy shoes and grey hair and says: Jeeze! What the Hell is that guy thinking?

Ya know, we all wear costumes. Hell, our cars are part of our costumes.
