VIVA LAS VEGAS FUTURE! all attendee's must read!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by axle, Apr 11, 2005.

  1. Axle,

You have my full support. Also, sign me up to help out as much as needed.

Was seriously considering not bringing my Deuce next year whether the '40 Coupe was roadworthy or not. This is a case of where we're gonna have to back up before we can go forward again.

    Axle,

Congradulations on a great show this year. It was the 1st for Jennifer and I.
I have been in your shoes, and your doing the right things. The saftey of the people and there vehicles are #1.
And I agree with the folks that have brought up just serving draft beer in plastic.

Is it safe to ***ume that you know who the people were that mostly were at fault for the issues at stake? If so, those would be the first people that would NOT be allowed in next year.

Its a damn shame that everything in this world has to be ruled and regulated to death.

I do agree there has to be something done, my family were out looking at cars on Friday night and were almost run down by someones "rat rod" the idiot had to lock up his brakes to keep from hitting a crowd of people and other cars!

    People ****!

I'm surprised that these sanctions weren't put in place long ago. Every decent car show has some sort of fee to park...The Road Agent's Rumble, Lead East...they all cost a few bucks, but it promotes a better show with live music, vendors, adequate facilities. It's understood that putting on a show takes money and it needs to come from somewhere. Hopefully, these sanctions will eliminate much of the nonsense that was part of this years VLV. I hope to be out there for next year

    Alex-
I hope you don't mind, but I reposted your post on my Myspace Kustom Kulture group; alot of those people fall into the scenester category and I think your preaching to the choir on the HAMB.
    OT-Von Dutch's granddaughter's a member of that Myspace group-weird,huh?
If she's not, she's got some kick-*** candid pix of Dutch when he was happy...

  8. Right behind you Axle....was my 1st time at Viva this year, the lunacy I witnessed even early in the evening on Saturday was just that....lunacy....

The booze in cups thing is a GREAT idea...I'm still picking broken gl*** outta the soles of my boots.

Does the Pre 63 thing mean I can't bring my '63 Plymouth then????

    Dave

  9. Sounds like one of the big events that is held annually Down Under....was great at the beginning, slowly deteriorated to the point where cars were being bottled and squirted with brake fluid by drunken ****wits.

And even though rules were changed over the years to keep the clowns away, it is now an event for trailer sailors and is an almost booze less event -which doesnt mean **** coz the event has been permanently damaged. Maybe as Axle said weve gotten older too......

Hope this doesnt happen to VIVA...heres wishing you luck AXLE

    Rat

    Hope

Alex, you know that you have my full support on this.

The car show has been on a downward spiral the past few years. It's unfortunate that it's had to come to this, but in order for this show to continue these new rules are necessary.

I think you should definitely require a photo with the registration, theres plenty of pre-63 ****boxes at the show and they should be weeded out. If you need help rooting through photos and deciding which cars shouldn't attend, you know that I will gladly give you my "un-biased opinion".

Next year, we'll be glad to help you out with the show again.

I fully support what Alex and the Gold Coast are doing here, and I understand completely why they must do it this way.

The folks in Vegas are a pretty tolerant lot when it comes to visitors misbehaving (that's kinda what the city's economy is based on), but there are always limits. It's too bad that a few flamin' idiots have to push and exceed those limits and **** up the coolest thing about the Shifters' VLV car show, the all night party in the parking lot. Hanging out in the parking lot at night with my freinds and enjoying the good hearted, harmless foolishness that went along with that has been my favorite part of VLV. Unfotunately, a few **** heads had to elevate they're foolishness to a mean spirited, intolerable level and blow this cool gig for everyone else.

Even though the flavor of the show has now changed, I will continue to attend. It's still a great car show, and there are a lot of people from around the country that I only have the chance to see once a year at this show. It will still be worth going to.

Thanks to Alex, the Shifters and all involved for putting on this gig year after year. I really appreciate all that you have done.

Sounds like a good start to correcting the problems that have nearly killed it. As usual, what ever help you need from the Vegas group, you got it...

Not to hijack this thread, but people should apply this thinking to EVERY SHOW you attend. As show attendees you people need to realize that our type of events are a very tenuous thing. The venues are just waiting for their cautiousness to be proven right. Billetproof is always on the verge of nonexistance because of our low-buck bad reputation, and we have yet to call the paramedics or have a real fight, thank god.

PLEASE DO NOT wake up to the facts that Axle writes AFTER THE FACT. If you like the "scene" (I hate saying that) then have some respect for yourself and others.

I don't want to sound like a parent, but if people had any clue about how much work guys like Axle, The Shifters and the Billetproof crew put into making these events happen for you, then none of this ******** would go on. Shows like ours have grown WAY BEYOND some guys hanging out in a parking lot and there is now a lot at stake.

Django...I guess I would call myself a rockabilly (I listen to rockabilly, grease my hair and have traditional tattoos). So I wasn't saying that about all rockabillys...I am sick of these Johnny Come Lately cheese****s that were hangin' with the import guys two years ago...got ran off by them and now invade our events and **** up cool stuff like VLV! Those are the Roxbury Rockabillys!!!

I agree with your sentiments Kirk. After reading this post I have decided to look at making some guidelines for the HOTROD-A-RAMA this year. We have been extremely lucky here in Tacoma with our show.( I plan to keep it that way) People need to police some of the idiots that screw it up for the people that like to have a good time without the drama. If ya see someone doing some stupid **** you should set them straight and ask them to leave. Folks need to realize the tremendous amount of work that goes into putting one of these shows on. I know first hand as Axle does, as well as Kirk.

Axle, you and the rest of the Shifters are invited to the HOTROD-A-RAMA.I know Squeak is organizing a run north for the show. Come and enjoy yourself without the work. Kirk, hope you'll make it as well.

Hey ***hat do us all a favor STAY HOME! This is exactly the at***ude that has alowed the ******** to escalate to this level. Maybe get your *** a job so you can afford to do something cool. Maybe grow up and realize that burnouts in a crowd are dangerous and just because you're in Sin City doesn't mean you have to be a chump with your rockasilly at***ude....
