Kind of reminds me of the punk scene 20 years ago,it was a lot of fun till all the musclehead *****s showed up trashing the clubs, starting fights ,etc...pretty soon no clubs would book punk shows anymore. If you want to be an idiot stay home,do burnouts in your driveway and and throw bottles at your neighbors. The people who ***** the most about this would probably be the first to sue if they got ran over by another *****.

I have enjoyed the Viva Las Vegas Event in 02 and again in 04. I thought the high point was Friday night... It seemed like what mainstreet America might have looked like during the golden age.. only all the cars were cool. It seemed like a controlled insanity.. but I am not suprised that it eventually got out of control. I will miss the evenings on the roof... it was cool.. Being from Maine the Heat of the day gets to be too much. I understand the decisions to lay down the law. I hope some sort of comprimise can be reached to allow some nocturnal activities on the roof. It is a shame that the same thing that killed the scene in many small towns in America finally found VLV and threaten it too. Thanks to all that put on such a unique and cool show. I hope that you can find a way to regulate it without killing it.

  5. yeah, what the hell are those comments. There are ways of not having any fights. For one what gives anyone the right to touch another individual. Fighting is not an option, and it doesnt need to become one no matter what goes down. Thats what Tom and Axle have security for. And what do you need to do burnouts for on the top deck when there are tons of people walking around, burnouts are fine and all when your back in your own town. I am not trying to preach like a ****ing hippie because I used to like to fight when I was a kid, but now I am dad and husband and see things alot different than these young kids who are walking around all tough like. Dont ***ume because I may look like you or something that I have the same at***ude as you. I see things from a dads point of view now, and that guy I may want to hit may be some other 4 year olds dad and every kid needs a dad. Why are so many opposed to buying wristbands anyways, its a good time inside, and I am into punk not really rockabilly but I can always have a good time. Save your pennies folks its a year away you can scrounge the wristband $$...

I have been following this thread with great interest. My report on the Shifters show has just about talked my club out of doing an event. The consensus was, if we do put on a show, it'll be invitational only. Otherwise we'd have to hire bouncers, that takes the fun out of it for the folks who do the heavy lifting to make it happen.

Everyone who attended was a GUEST of the Shifters and some abused the honor. I met some very cool people there, but I sure saw some idiots too. I am glad I didn't bring a car, I'd have socked somebody for sure. Breaking bottles and doing burnouts near someones hard earned car guarantees a fast trip to Fist City. There is no excuse or justification for that ****. Hot rods and custom cars are peoples pride and joy, show some cl***. Put your trash in the trash can, don't touch anyones ride unless invited to do so, offer to help the host club, if you can, and if your pal is getting obnoxiously polluted, steer him to a place where he won't cause problems. We are not customers at these kind of free or cheap shows, we are GUESTS, let's be good ones.

The best way to stop fights is to ban alcohol and give everyone a joint.

But then again some a-hole will smuggle liquor in a Robittussin bottle and **** things up like they do at Rainbow Gatherings.

I like hippies, I am one, I like hippie chicks, especially ones without tattoos. I like 'em with unkempt and hairy bushes.
Hippie chicks put out, rockabilly chicks are way too uptight.

I have been at the last 4 VLV shows and to be honest each year I have seen some idiot causing trouble. This year it was noticeable that there were more security personal around. But I honestly don’t think they were doing a damn thing to prevent trouble just responding to it once it occurred.

There was an early Chevy truck, flat black crusing around the ramp Saturday around 1pm or so. It had the bed piled full of people, not out of the ordinary, but this dumb **** had two guys sitting on the hood using the windshield for a backrest. So he couldn’t see a ****ing thing as he was driving through the crowd of hundreds of people. I watched him round the corner at the end of one of isles with his head stuck out so he could see. There was a team of two security guys following behind him. He just happened to peek around the guy sitting on the hood enough to see there was a car heading right at him. So he stops and drops it into reverse, takes a look behind, again can’t see **** due to all the people in the back. The security guys were right on the bumper when he started creeping back and the guy didn’t see them. I just stood back and watched, I figured the security would put the smack down. So the guy backed into one of the security guys, he yells...HEY!...to the driver....driver replies "sorry" and they just kept ****ing walking. I was disappointed to say the least.

But I'm sure I'll be back.

  13. After driving 12 hours in the night in my coupe and reaching the show I thought holy **** look at all these people. The show was outstanding and for the most part people were cool just the people we are talking about ruined it for all of us. I am more than willing to pre register for the car show only. I really do not care about the music end of it just the cars. Axle you guys did one hell of job and should be very proud of what you have done with this event. I am for sure coming next year and will be more than glad to lend a hand in whatever you need.

If it was a little later than you think im probably the guy that almost got his car hit. The guy came like a foot from the front of my car and one of the guys on the hood yelled at him to stop. he barely stopped in time. I was leaving to go back to my hotel not cruising around with a bunch of people walking around. That guy almost mowed down a few cars that i saw.

Messing with another persons car and/or going after someones wife or kids with serious insults, threats, or fists are the biggest forms of a cool violations ever.

This post was just about the first part of the above, now the second thing has been added.

The people who tend to do these things usally are big pussies. I don't stand for such things.

There is such a thin line between Rowdy fun and out of control chaos. The very nature of the problem is what has made the event so popular. It is however impossible to keep that kind of thing static. It will invariably grow out of control, forcing action, such as that taken by the shifters. The trick now will be to eliminate the out of hand idiots without homogenizing the whole event. I think it can be done but it will require a little work. Good luck and see you next year.

Just do like Goodguys...Everybody pays admission and has to go through a gate.

St Ignace used to be a world cl*** weekend "open show"....But the drunken toothless, greasy, pickup truck drivin, bottle throwin trailer trash, punks ruined it......just like they will ruin every "open" event.

    HAHAHAHA!

You guys are so funny. I'm wiping tears from my eyes.

Rockasillies, Orca Betties, you all sure are original. My favorite of all by Chili Phil "Fonzi and Potsie take Extacy and go to the Burning Man Festival." Oh, can't forget ""bringing my wife and kid without worrying about greaserholics and they're fat*** girlfriends overrunning a great event." thrown down by hammy. Hey man I'm sorry. Not everyone can be thin and beautiful. Life ain't TV ya know.

Last time I heard someone make fun of of another person's appearance was over 15 years ago in High School. It's like you're all the gold chainer's of the fashion world. Good luck with that.

Axle, sorry a few *** hats had to bring down a major revision in rules to keep the show going.

    See ya next year.

    Lets get back to cars...

YeeeYow! If Yorgi wanted to kick my ***, I'd stay away from Paso. He's a big ol' galoot and a Rocketeer too. Reminds me of Roth when he had the shop on Slauson, before he got Jesus. That shop was always full of Galloping Gooses and Satan's Slaves. And THEY all gave ol' Ed a wide berth.
