Oh, buddy, hang out at the Viva Las Vegas pool parties and those tattooed, dressed up chicks'll grow on you! (and if they don't, there are plenty of cars and great music for you - and more lovelies for me!)
This was my first Viva, and I liked it! Getting to see Brian Setzer was a plus for me. Dick Dale needs to retire. Saw a 51 Chevy cover truck there. That was the icing on the cake. I was hoping to see it in person and I did.
I like viva, I may be to old for most. But I have a good time , I go mainly for the bands, but have never been put off by the people. Most like me are into cars. My main gripe would be the hotels not the shows. I want coffee in the rooms, so now I take my own pot. I don't move in the morning without 2 cups in bed.
If he did, he'd quite literally die. He has to keep touring to keep up with his never ending medical treatment costs that are keeping him going.
Yes, he did say that. I think his wife mentioned his birthday was very soon also. He's in his 80s I think she said?
Just got back this morning from this event, was gone for 2 weeks since I went to the LSRU as well. Wasn't too impressed with this year's event and wasn't happy about the whole registration and parking situation, long story that I don't feel like ranting about. I miss the pre-2007 Gold Coast Days of this event. The size of the event has made it lose it's feel IMO. Between LSRU and VIVA, the former had more quality and quantity as far as cars go.
To me, the best part is a little-known event downtown. The Greasers Social Club BBQ. I'm still recovering...
Wife and I went late Saturday, walked the cars, had a few beers, listened to Setzer, was a nice afternoon/evening. Saw a lot of guys, gals and families enjoying themselves, doing what they like to do. I doubt any of the ladies at the event care what a couple of internet car guys (with their playmate wives/girlfriends) think about their clothing and/or tats.
