All you guys complaining are way off base! Axle is a top notch guy,who works hard to put on these events. I recently met him at the GNRS when i put my new roadster in the Suede Palace. As new as i am to the scene i recognize the effort and time it takes to "stage" one of these events, and i also understand the expense involved. If your attending its a bargain.

I will be heading up through Kingman on Thursday night. I remember an old junkyard somewhere around there that is closed down. I was looking throught the gate when the owner was there and he took me through. Any idea where that is? i can't remember.

I think you are talking about the one on the 93 in Dolan Springs between Kingman and the dam. I have land up there and the last time I talked to him he was building a huge garage higher up the hill off the highway but was having supply issues. Because of the build, hes not there 24/7 like he used to be.

    Is that the one?

Probably. He had some stuff in front that was for sale so I stopped and looked. He seemed nice enough and he had some interesting stuff as well. Been a few years so I don't really remember what. I think it was a 55 or 56 Pontiac Wagon that caught my attention.

Yea, thats the guy. He used to be a tow yard. Definately a "bubble off level". Yea, its up the 93 between Kingman and the Hoover dam in a town called Dolan Springs. My acres are just up that dirst road.

Been past that a number of times the last few years, most recently in May 08 when I spent a week in Prescott with my good buddy da34guy. Had lots of fun and thanks to him FINALLY got my A on the road!

BRING YOUR CARS! If you don't want to attend the rockin'est music festival in the world and just show your car...forget Friday, come on Saturday...it's only $35!

That's way too cheap for the joy you get from having your ride in VLV. Hell, a tank of gas costs me that much (or used to and probably will again very soon). Yeah, times are tough but the truth is we're tougher.

Personally, I can't imagine not getting an event pass that allows me to park my car on Wednesday, cruise the lot every day and party with the bands every night.

I'm old enough to know that you won't regret what you do in life nearly as much as what you didn't do. The bucks you spend on this event will soon be forgotten. The memories from being at Viva Las Vegas 2009 will be with you the rest of your life.

It's your choice. Pimp My Ride on TV at home or a wild weekend at VLV. Ain't much of a choice to me. Hell, I'm rollin' the dice when I get there. Last year it paid for my entire trip. 7 come 11, here I come.

    See you in VEGAS!

NitroHonkey, you've got a lot of nerve questioning my loyalty or history in cars! I guarantee i've been in to this a hell of a lot longer than you and have been a Hamb member since it first started way over 10 years ago. Just because i don't particularly care for post 1935 fenderless trucks doesn't mean i'm not a die hard car guy. If it seems i'm too much in to traditional music so be it, thats who and what i'm all about !

To get back to the topic at hand, i will bring up some facts.
EVERYTHING COSTS. Its the way it works. WE (Tom Ingram, Myself,The Shifters) spend all year promoting and organizing this event. Security, entertainment, sound, fencing, websites, promotional advertisements, facility fee's, rooms, tables, chairs, pipe & drape, etc, etc, etc ( I could go on and on and on) all cost money. You wouldn't understand this because you have NEVER organized a large event in your life.

MOONEYES - $30.00 per car, $5.00 to walk in.

PRIMER NATIONALS - $45 per car, $10.00 to walk in.

    BILLET PROOF - $35.00 - per car , $15.00 to walk in.

    WEST COAST KUSTOMS PASO/SANTA MARIA - $50.00

GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW - $50.00 to show inside , $40.00 for Drive In.

    ROAD ROCKET RUMBLE - $40.00

HOT ROD HAYRIDE in England has a fee

A BOMBERS Old Style Weekend in Sweden has a fee.

So , after reading this, what is so different about our show ?!?!?!?!?!?

Crap... do we HAVE to go through this every.... freakin.... year?

I bet right now there is a music board filled with music lovers complaining about all of the self-righteous hot rodders ruining their event.. The nerve of old guys and regular-looking Barneys and Joes walking around like THEY own the place... :(

I was not going to post on here but, I can't take it anymore....IT COSTS MONEY TO DO ANYTHING NOW!!!! I spent 45 bucks to go to the Primer Nationals for one day, I was only there for four hours max, And the only new car I seen there was Rudys coupe....Did I feel ripped off no, I got to hang with some friends and look at cars, I went to the Grand National Roadster show and Sacramento Autorama last year with my 51 Chevy, THIS WAS NOT CHEAP...Display with carpet, lights and sign=$300.00 entry to the show=$50.00 no entertainment just the cars once you walk the show twice you have seen all the cars, Sacramento was unreal entry=$50.00 Gas to and from the show=$250.00 Hotel for three nights=$350.00 plus food, AGAIN ONCE YOU WALK THE SHOW three times and its boring now....Goodguys Phoenix entry to show, gas to and from the show, hotel and food= $700.00 and you have not bought anything tou reallly want!!!!

VIVA sound like a good deal HUH!!!!

No one is getting rich from VIVA, I have put on several local shows and they are one day small maybe 80 cars, and they cost us alot. If you can't afford to go don't go. Axel I commend you for putting these events on, and no I am not kissing anyones ass, I am just tired of people complaining!

  20. Damn all I wanted to know was why the public got in free and why the car guy had to pay! never said I would not nor have not payed, just wanted to know a little reasoning behind it, kinda like when ya smoke a motor and want to know what happened. for the record Axle I understand and appreciate all the work and time that is put into the show and it is great and I plan on going again. I used to help put on drag races so I know what you are saying.

  21. Hey Axle, if you feel so confident in yourself why don't you share with everyone else what you said to me on a private message. I do not appreciate your threatening demeanor nor do I not believe HAMB has policy that condones you attempting to verbally blackmale me. I think people on the HAMB should know how you react when questioned.

This thread should be about everyone hooking up & meeting each other, seeing some cars, having some beers and planning the good time that all of us who are going are going to have. PERIOD. My wife and I are REALLY looking forward to it and so what if it is costing us $89 each to get in. Fucking concerts cost that much and the band only plays for a couple hours. This is 4 days of cars, music & people...........Too much bad mouthing from some people who just want to start some shit is all this is turning out to be.

$89 for a four day pass? Try going to Bonneville. Entry fee (before you turn a wheel) $400. Gas there and back $700. Food and misc. $300. Race gas, 4 gals. at $8 a gal. $32. Throw in a few hundred more for what I've forgot. It make $35 for a day seem almost for free. Oh! Leaving Bonneville with a record cert. in your pocket? Absolutely priceless.

If you don't want to pay. Be prepared not to play. Kwitchyerbitchen.

  29. Your right! I appologize for steering this off track. Hope you all have a great time at Viva!

"Rat rodders that won't pay to show their car is the same as billet guys bitching about not having trophies" or something to that effect... Brilliant! :D Hahahaha!

Think of it as "renting" the asphalt to park your car for the show. :D

The spectators DO pay. $5, right?

$89 for the weekend is a STEAL. It's like 35 bands right? Think about that. That's alot of bands to have to pay!

The several times I have gone, I've always had a great time, in spite of the jacket club thugs that have started showing up recently.

    Axle is dreamy. :D
