This came over from the Ingram camp today: CAR SHOW By overwhelming demand, the car show will remain on the top floor of the parking structure and the Gold Coast Hotel has agreed to cover all of the extra costs. Therefore we will not be charging non-VLV9 wristband holders to get in. The parking lot is already 2/3 full with cars. I would like to remind you that only people with a VLV9 wristband can register a car for the car show. You can do that on the VLV web site. ----- So aside from no admission costs, are all other prior restrictions applying?
The VLV website shows no such changes ( www.vivalasvegas.net ) and I get all Tom Ingrams updates and have received none to this effect. Where did you get this info ? Johnnie.
i maybe stupid or somthing but what does it take to get a car into the show, other than the cars requirments , or what does it take for me to be a spectator at the car show, i can care less about the rest
Copy of the email: VLV9 NEWS UPDATE With VLV9 less than 2 months away, things are really busy here. We are already ¾ full so make sure you book your wristband in advance. Well, the same e-mail update just came through my PC. Must take a little longer to get to rural Colorado, damn, just like regular mail. At any rate, I'm glad it's gonna stay on top of the parking structure, a much more open air feeling up there. Wonder if the non-VLV attendees can still only go in on Saturday ? Johnnie.
I regestered a while ago, but cannot remember if we needed to send Axle a pic of our car or not?? anyone know??
Axel, I would like to know if my car can get in? I left an email at shifters32@pacbell.net but no response. I will pay the $75 but I don't want to go to Vegas to have this car parked back at the hotel. Yes it is steel (except for the rear fenders), but I hope to have steel fenders on before the show. Thanks
FYI to others, Axle answered no (due to the 70's look of the mags and raised white tires). I responded again letting him know I was going to change to stealies, get the steel rear fenders on (the rest is original '34 Plymouth steel), and possibly switch to Satin Black if I have the time/money to get rid of the primer grey. I will let you know what happens.
hey that looks better than half the cars that usually show up...lol anyone remember the 80's "flat black" camaro, that somehow made it in there withough getting towed?....lol or what about the chopped 60's mustang!...lol.... true his car is more "street rodder" than the rules, but all he gots to do is change the wheels,....no need to primer it black....put some whites on it and smoothies,...hell borrow some for the show if you have to, personally i wouldnt worry about your rear fenders,...there lots of "rat rods" that are hiding behind some glass...(they just wont admit it untill you catch em!)
the car show is indeed moving back to the top parking lot. there will still be PLENTY of security up there. as it stands right now.....to register a car for the show you must pay for vlv and yes, that means getting a wristband. things may change when it gets closer to easter weekend. the show is filling up fast! as far as anyone walking in on saturday it is now free. still, you must have a wristband to stay up there past 4:00 p.m. again no: dogs, bottles, knuckleheads, burn outs, doughnuts, fights, shit boxes. we have just added the mcintyre bros. and thier big john mazmanian willys drag car to be on display. alex
Well, looks like I will see you all at VLV. The biggest issue now is not the stealies or the fenders, but the registration in California http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92868&highlight=register I could cheat at it, but I would rather not. By the way, yeah it has seats with head rests but they only have two loose bolts holding them to the floor anyway and I HATE them. I'll find something else even if I have to put in lawn chairs (at least then I would have aluminum seat frames, how modern!)! There are other small issues too (my steering column and wheel are really weird and canted to the side, and I should find a way to secure it a little better), but I'm working them out as time and cash allow. Remeber guys the clock is ticking (T minus 6 weeks! ) The car is billet proof! (and it certaintly is not high dollar). My style is a little more retro than my MoPar right now, but it's getting there.
like i've said before you are welcome to drink but it must be from a can or plastic cup. saturday, the day of the show, the gold coast will have a food & beverage stand that will include beer.
I'll be there with my girl. This is going to be our first VLV and I can't wait for the car show. I know there is going to be some really cool west coast stuff that I normally don't get to see here in Jersey. it's going to be a great time.
