This may be a dumb question, but I want to mount the voltage regulator on my firewall. This car will not have a hood and I live in Florida---Will there be any issues (short or long-term) if the regulator gets wet?

Soldier all wire connections, and use weather tight connectors, and you should be fine.

I don't suspect anything major. They normally have a cover and a gasket with 2 screws to keep them pretty
moisture-free inside the cover. On the backside there are some open elements that I have seen corrode slightly
over time even in a covered engine compartment. Bob

I’d stay out of salt water rain:rolleyes:. I’d say there have been 100,000 to 500,000 hood less hot rods built and run with open generators and even alternators and a million miles in the rain. Many of us look for an overp*** when caught out. Water can not get under a tight ring style connection.
I’d carry a small can of WD-40. It’s the proper use of it. WD = water displacement.
