    where can I buy an 8 volt regulator for my 51 fleetline

    You should be able to adjust the gap on a 6 Volt to give you 8.

    Don't tell me...you're having starting problems with the 6-volt system and using a tractor battery instead of fixing the problems which generally mean new large cables, cleaning all grounds and repairing starter as necessary.

    Fixxit...8V gives you very poor lifespan for bulbs and such. You are applying brute force (and not very much of it) to overcome the fairly simple and cheap problems that Pasadena points out. Plus the non-standard battery is going to quit someday and no one nearby is going to have one...
    No matter what, get 6V cables, clean mounting points, add a cable direct from starter mount to the end of battery ground strap.
    You will probably like 6 fine at this point...if not, go to 12 since you are buying a baattery anyway. '55 generator and reg, ne bulbs, IVR for instruments.
