Technical Volvo M40 Transmission Conversion in Model A

Yup, that`s pretty much the only direction to take to keep the torque tube.

 

I can tell you it's much harder to make a M41/M410 fit. I'm doing it on a V8. I've got the trans to engine adapt sorted out. all in mock up stage at the moment.
Where I am not sure is trying to make a torque tube connect to the overdrive.
If it is not feasible, a conversion to open drive may be the answer, but I would like to keep the torque tube.

Can any of you fellas talk us through the remachining of the output shafts?

A lot of the classic car guys put the Laycock overdrive in the rear of the torque tube. Another machine project.

 

I've been going trough this topic and read all the posts. Wanting to do the same conversion and keep the TT.
But am I wrong or is everybody loosing the speedogear on their TT conversion?

 

If you're using the Torque Tube, will the speedo-gear be on the TT.

If going open drive shaft, you can use the exit of the M40.

 

I ditched the tt and use a gps speado app for speed. The roadster has open drive banjo, and the coupe has open drive ford 9 inch. Everything has been strengthened to run the open drive. The Volvo trans has worked real well for me.

 

But ofcourse I forgot it was in the TT. Anyway If I don't mind shortening the TT what would be the bast transition to go from Volvo box to Ford TT?
