Very cool. I've seen very few pictures of the earlier version, now that I've seen more of it, I can honestly say it's my favorite T-bucket. It reminds me a bit of Isky's roadster in that paint job.

What's the surf insturmental? I loved it.

I'm REALLY glad those pipes got into the right hands because I actually had a part in their history about 17 years ago. A friend had found all those bitchin' cars that I eventually turned the Choppers on to and the first guy had bought a Model T out of the bunch that had those pipes on it. He changed the car around a whole bunch and took the pipes off when he installed a flathead in the car and I told him I REALLY wanted the pipes. At the L.A. Roadster show I saw he had the pipes on the ground for sale but he wasn't in his spot- I found him later and told him again how I wanted the pipes- he said he was sorry but he already sold them to another guy that was going to cut them apart to use on a '32. I was livid!!! That same guy bought almost all my cool stuff the following roadster show after I lost my job and parted out my '32- an extra kick in the groin. I thought those pipes were lost forever until I saw the pic in Hop Up. I also wrote the Rodder's Jounal story on Franco's other clone so I know how intense he is with his builds. Glad they came full circle and ended up with the guy that should really have them.

    Franco has eyes?

I'm sure the Lightning Bug will be bitchin'. Just like the Kookie T and the Goldenrod. And his '32, for that matter.

I feel bad for Katie about now, though. I'm sure Franco is a grouchy wreck trying to get it finished and perfect for the show. Wish I could be out there to see it at the show.

That film trailer ROCKS! I would buy it in a second. Can't wait till it's done. Norm is a cool guy. Gonna spend some time hangin out with him in about a month. If you ever get a chance, take him out to lunch/dinner. Norm and waitresses are a HOOT!

I looked around the LARS for the Lightning Bug, but never saw it. Was it there? Where?

It was at the show on Sunday for the first time- I looked EVERYWHERE for it on Sat!
I cut the tip of my finger clean off on Sat. night- spent 4 hours in the Emergency room and woke up this morning and gauged if it hurt enough not to go look again for Franco's car as well as look for my hairy pal Jimmy White- because otherwise I really didn't need to go another day (but really wanted to before the accident). It wasn't killing me so I packed up and went out there and found Jimmy right off the bat who had just been at Franco's car! Excellent!!! Within the first 20 minutes of hitting the place I found them both and it was TOTALLY worth it!!! The new Norm car is FANTASTIC, but all of Franco's cars have been. He is the top example of a clone car being nothing to be ashamed of when you go to that degree of correctness. I LOVE correct clones and wish more people put the research and dedication into them that Franco does. It recreates a part of history that would otherwise NEVER again be. Because if someone did ever exhume the Kookie Kar from its tomb it would most likely get restored to its 77 Sunset Strip glory. I myself would build yet another version of it when it was Pearl White with the red flames because that's the most obscure and least seen version of the car- also I REALLY like that period when chrome reverses, spiders and wide whites were totally in fashion.
Hurray Franco- you made losing a fingertip and going to a show I'd already mostly seen TOTALLY worth it!!! You are the man! And remember to call me as soon as you figure out who's gonna get first dibs, thanks Jim

Saw the car before the motor was put together and the body on the frame. This car is flawless ! My hat off to Franco, Katie and friends that made this all come together. Time for a well deserved rest my friend. Oh, I don't think VF will let this one get away!

It didn't make it on Saturday due to a wrong drilled flywheel..that sent him back about 4 hours....so they finished it about 6:00 AM Sunday and loaded it on the trailer....

    Some Pix will follow...
