My wife did me a great favour by visiting her sister for a few days, so I had the whole weekend to do what I liked.
I got stuck into the Pop, making new rear legs for the X-member, new front legs for same, incorporating the ****** mount, and today I made up an exhaust system, dumping just in front of the rear wheel. Will post pics tomorrow when my camera batteries are recharged.
So what did you fellas get done?
    Mart.

Started my garage building project. The chainsaw gang came over, brought along a 50 Ton truck crane, and took down 7 large oak trees. Now my yard looks like a sawmill. [IMG]Lotsa really big logs, and sawdust everywhere [IMG]

PS.,If I can figure out how to resize pictures and post them,I show you guys and gals my yard...It looks like a war zone [IMG]

Tore my 331 hemi most of the way down. Need to soak the pistons now for a few days to get them out.Took the rocker ***emblies and heads off..took the oil pan and pump off. Probably tear the front of the engine apart next weekend and try to get the pistons and crank out. Then it's off to the engine shop for magnafluxing. I have my fingers crossed. [IMG]

trailered the 54 chev truck cab and doors to the stripper (chemical-type not ****-type). and dis***embled everything else, used two full cans of pb blaster (good stuff for removing rusty bolts), labeled everything, took a ton of photos so I can get it back together.

I cut off the rockers on the Merc, and once again contemplated on how much of a channel I should/shouldn't do. I have this sneaky feeling that a channel on this ch***is isn't really neccesary, the ride height of the naked body setting on the frame is about what I would expect it to be. I am worried that if I channel it (even 2 inches), that by the time all the rest of the sheetmetal/interior/etc. is in place, the car will sit too low to be able to drive. I am considering air bags, but their price is WAY too prohibitive right now. I hate the ride of cut coils...so, basically, I cut the rockers off, and sized things up. I found out the driver's side rear coil spring sags one inch compared to the p***enger side. The broken/rewelded driver's lower seat frame and this saggy rear coil lead me to believe that some real fatso had this car (the town car) at one time! [IMG]

I got lots of little stuff done on Faye...

I replaced the dome light cover and got the dome light working again. Then we put seatbelts in the front seats so my 6 year old can join us for rides. Dad put his beautiful Dodge Lancer hubcaps on Faye and they look so good I'm keeping my skirts off. The only mechanical thing I needed to do was change out the gasket on the valve cover and that was a quick job.

Mostly, I spent time driving because the weather here was amazing. Sunny and warm with the fall leaf show in full tilt.

  12. Not so much car stuff, but at least it ain't packing.

Got some tie-downs added to the floor of my new toybox.
Along with moving the roadsters I gotta move the shop as well.
Figured two tie-downs at each end weren't gonna do it.

Did a few other little details to it as well.
Wasn't quite like building stuff for the hot rods, but it sure beat doing stuff in the house.
Besides, any time spent in the garage is a good time.
    Right?
    Right....

just got home with my new 60 catalina. new paint. green bosy, pearl white roof. got a pretty good deal, and all it needs is interior work, and some brake work. no problem with doing that. I'm just glad the body work is done!!

  15. Sat. I went over to help DV8 clean and organize his shop. Others were asked to help but they were no shows. Today we went to the swap where I got an open drive banjo, 4 16" 1940 wheels, a 28-9 firwall and other bits and pieces. A good weekend indeed.

Installed the new radiator in my '36. Got one of my seats back from the trimmer. Unfortunately, he moved the mounts about two inches (Who knows why) so it won't bolt in. Too bad, it really looks good. I'll call him tomorrow. Wayno

The garage post from a few days ago got me thinking my garage was a mess so I spent last night and today doing some painting and installing some new benches and cabinets (supposed to have two sets but the second way was missing some hardware and it was the last in in stock.. so I got to wait until next weekend to install..

Got the firewall painted (in a friend's shop). After some more blocking, the rest of the body will be ready.

I p***ed out candy to a bunch of little brats....got eggs thrown at the mailbox (I thought our candy was alright, I ate most of it) .... [IMG]

Drove to Evansville from milwaukee and finally bought myself a winter rat rod project. (31 model A five window) with a 49 flathead....decent shape too, already chopped etc so I'm stoaked about that.

Changed the oil in my Deville and wrote a coule reports for school....Pretty productive for me

skull63, your front end looks great

My wife and I went for a three hour ride in the roadster. It was a beautiful fall day so we drove around south east M***achusetts and waved a folks who like old cars. Lots of smiles per mile. Leaf raking can wait until next weekend.
